Icebox info

Anyone get the Comptech Icebox intake yet? I want to know all the feedback possible . Does it have that hissing sound that the Aem has and does it have the power increase that the Aem has? Any and all feedback will be greatly appriciated . Thanks

and looking at the great pics you took it looks like it will perform LIKE STOCK.

does anyone else think that the design looks a little cheap?? i mean i thought the piping from the filter to the throttle body was going to be smooth but it looks just like the stock setup except you have a cone filter.

looks kind of disappointing to me...

it doesn't look like it would give that much power over stock... . That's why I'll be keeping my AEM, the sound is worth it alone.

unless the dyno proves otherwise i might make the switch but from the pics and the news it looks like i might just keep my aem cai

these guys don't post all that much, they're usually in the Dallas area thread. Send them a PM. DeezNutz, RUF87, InfernoTLS.

What you can not see in the photos is the large horn on the bottom of the intake. This is the big differance from stock. It could creat some pressure in the intake box around the filter. The dyno will tell the tell.

The “horn” you speak of is just the inlet for the air.
Unless you duck the thing to an opening on the front of your car I don’t foresee it adding any pressure to the filter box.

After seeing the ICE box... if someone droped a Hi-Flow filter K&N or even the Comptech one, then yanked out the resonator and attached a Dryer Hose to bottom of the stock box and directed it behind the driving lights... he effectively done his own version of IceBox.

A dyno comparo would a nice supporting evidence for the above.

Just MHO.

Yes it is.
Otherwise it would be in the way of the lower air intake pipe.

Isn't that what allmotor_2000 did?

I agree with ShawnS too -- the horn is tucked behind the bumper. I highly doubt any ram effect.

I was all excited about the Ice Box, but the pics are turning me off. If only there was a dyno...

That's what I thought...

But from the looks of the pics posted throughout the various ICE box posts, it seems that the thing resembles a short-ram???

For someone who has a CAI, is it a pretty easy install, considering everything is already removed?

Still waiting to see proven gains though...

I agree.
If you have a CAI installed and all the stock crap out of there it would probably only take 15-minutes to swap.
Or less then 5-hours if your name starts with “AM” and ends with “IR”.

I installed my icebox yesterday and yes, you remove the resonator. The piping is definitely larger than stock for the horn. You probably could get the same results with dryer hose. However, there is this little chamber between the bend and the throttle body that I am not quite sure what it does.

I haven't noticed any hissing sound, unless it is in higher RPM and I am jumping on it! It definitely is louder than stock at WOT. But at normal driving, you wouldn't even know. It is a rainy out here, so I haven't had a chance to test it out. I can already feel an improvement though.

Comptech has the instructions on their website under the accord. Pretty much the same and it should answer all your questions.

You know, I had the icebox on my Civic Si. I dyno'ed it and I gained the hp that they quoted. Morever, the icebox does work well. It combines the short ram and cool air effect at the box. Box cover off, I lost 6 hp to the wheels.

Thus, I have confidence in this product. If I had the dough, I'll dyno it once I get it on.
