Exclamation ICEBOX help!!! Cant remove top of filter housing.

I need to clean my ICEBOX's airfilter but im having a problem taking the top of the filter housing off. The Top two srews (Left one and Right one) wont come out, they just keep spinning. The bottom screw came right out though. Ive cleaned my filter a number of times and i have never had this problem of the screws just spinning in place.

Anyone ever had this problem?

Same thing happened to me, I striped the plastic holding the bolt, I ended up grinding the top of the screws off and in the process melted the plastic and now the bolt is not stripped again. Just bought a screw and now I can use the box.

Same here. It happened once and I got the box replaced. And when I re-installed the new one, I barely tightened the bottom screw. Now, it FAWKING happened again..... I'm going to cut the sucker off with a dremel.

It happened to mine also. I called Comptech and they mailed me a new one. But they will charge your credit card if the old one not return to them within weeks.

I feel your pain. When I first bought mine one screw just kept spinning in place. So they sent me another and I sent the old one back once I got it. It was just a pain in the ass to uninstall the "box" when they sent me the new one, then mail the old box back with the rest of the new one they sent me. The only way Comptech offered to compensate me was $100 off headers. I didn't have 1K to drop on headers so it was no good to me. Great prodtuct as far as gains, higher position of cone filter, and minimal sound...just shoddy craftsmenship I guess. I must admit, I was rather dissappointed because Comptech is supposed to be one of the most reputable companies around.

Icebox craftmanship

So I guess that the metal threading is molded into the plastic and eventually breaks free of the plastic? That sucks!

I just installed my Icebox this weekend. One problem I had was that the cover did not fit smoothly with the bottom housing. There was like a 1/8 or 1/4 inch gap when I put the cover on the filter. I had to have another person pulling up on the main housing while I pushed down on the cover, while trying to screw in the screws. Even with two people it took me at least 15 minutes just to get all 3 screws started! Anybody have this issue before?
