Ice Box Filter with K&N Cleaner?

Ok,

maybe a dumb question, but i wanted to find out.

Can you use the K&N filter cleaner with the Ice Box foam filter?

I have a CAI and switching over to the Ice Box. Since i have some cleaner left, wondering if i can use it. I know the K&N filters are not foam.

Thanks,

-D

No but you can use a K & N filter in place of the uggy crappy comptech foam filter. I know there are a few people on the board now running K&N filters in their iceboxes. This would be my suggestion, try a search, and go this route.
Otherwise, comptech sells thier "own" foam cleaner kit for around 14 bucks.

If you put a K&N filter in the Icebox does it give you any more HP? Like the icebox gives you 15 and a K&N filter is saposed to give like 5, so would you gain a total of 20 HP?

I asked Comptech this very question.

They said that they thought there would not be a problem with the K&N oil and cleaner, but the could not recommend it. I'm not so much concerned about the oil, but I specifically asked if the K&N cleaner would corrode the foam and they didn't know the answer to that.

They recommended to go with a kit made for foam filters. These can be found in most motorcycle shops. The Comptech filter is made by Uni (http://www.unifilter.com) and the Uni cleaning kit would be preferred. I ended up buying the kit from Comptech as all the local motorcycle shops only had the cleaners in the gallon size and I don't think I'll ever use that much.

YMMV...

I've used an organic based cleaner and some K&N oil I had left over from my other car. No problems noticed.

If it does, then I guess I'll be replacing it with a K&N . . . like one needs a good excuse from time to time.

What K&N filter fits the Icebox (what product number)? I've played with the idea of swapping the Comptech/Uni foam for a K&N cotton filter.

This is a graphic of the dimensions of the filter that I measured before I installed it (in inches). The tube that it plugs into is 4 1/8" in diameter.

I don't remember K and N fitting... you'd need an adapter of some sort.

Thanks for all the info guys.

I think i'm going to use the cleaner for now. And if it does screw it up, i will just get the k & n replacement.
