I tried the road lamp search...

So I'm thinking of replacing the Piaa 19224's with these...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/PIAA-...spagenameZWDVW

Will they fit the same? Per Piaa's website, the bulb type on the 19224 is W2 and these are 168/194. Will this work in '01-'02 road lamp housings? Also, it looks as though the 19224's are 18 watts as opposed to the 19173's 5 watts. Why the difference? Will the 19173's be as bright as the 19224's only bright yellow instead of white? I'd like to try this yellow look (like the Lexus IS300) to see if I would like it. If anyone has good pics of these bulbs installed (the 19173's), post 'em up!

Thanks for the info good people!

PS: I know the road lamp bulb topic is an ongoing debate but all the threads in my search were from 1 to 3 years ago... Have we gained any new info since then?

If I'm not mistaken, those are too big. I think those will fit the reverse lights though.

I'm not sure about the socket. But they will be to big to fit in the housing without some custom dremeling. The 19224s, barely fit in there as it is.

Those will fit. Stock takes a 5W wedge bulb. This one is just yellow. I had these in my 02.

my 19173s blew so i bought the xtreme white 19224s and i hate them. they are too big (had to open hole in housing a bit) and they are blue/purple and stick out like a sore thumb.

the 19173s fit perfectly! they are the same size as the OEM bulbs. i had the plasma ion yellow 19173s and they were just as bright as the 19224s (i cant tell the difference).

wish i could find WHITE 19173s without the blue/purple.

^^ Awesome, I can't wait to see pics. I read through some searches and found that it seems like they fit fine so I ordered them. I found 'em on ebay for $10. Even if they didn't fit, I didn't lose much in the deal so no big deal. I can't wait for 'em to get hear though..

Ok, I got the yellow ones in now and took some pics. Sorry they aren't better. Honestly they pics of the yellow Piaa 19173's do not do the lights justice at all. They are just as bright as the Piaa 19224's even though they are only 5w compared to the 19224's 18w. The 19173's are much more yellow than the pics reveal. The pics of the 19224's are pretty much right on. They look almost identical to the HID's. I hope this helps.

PS: I'm having a really hard time deciding which ones I like better.

Piaa 19224's (White)

Piaa 19173's (Yellow)
