I think US vs CDN cars do NOT differentiate between miles and KM on the odo

That's my conclusion.

The speedo IS in mph versus km/hr for cdn counterparts, but I am convinced the car doesn't track miles as opposed to km's on the odometer.

None of my Canadian CL-S brothers are getting the vaunted MPG that our US brethen are gettin'. Ppl are telling me the get 600miles on the highway. WTF? I get 600km if i drive conservatively -- that'd be 372 miles as a BEST.

Your 600 miles is 965km, no way in hell. That's two tanks for me.

Best HW mileage I got was 26 MPG for 15 Gals that is 385-390 Miles or 624 KM.

Those who get 32 MPG should have been driving on flat land not the case between Nashua NH and Montreal, Qc.

Also, the winter grade GAS we have will reduce the MPG some 3-5 MPG.

No you're right but I thought he would say something like "I drove to work which I know is 18 km away and my odo read 15 km." You don't need to be a Federal officer to prove that.

LOL

You're right, flimsey "proof"

It was more of a comment and a hunch, I have no proof of this except that it is illogical. Unless I am leaking fuel somewhere, you guys can't be getting better mileage than myself (and ALL CDN owners i've talked to so far) -- I do 100km of pure highway everyday, no city driving. I don't peel out nor do accelerate aggresively from a dead stop. I use the premium 94 octane at all times.

My driving conditions *should* yield decent mileage, yet if some of you are really getting 600mi from a full tank, then something is amiss.

Nash: Those numbers you posted make alot more sense , i've gotten high 600kms when on a trip and doing pure highway. 310mi is more of what I get on an average tank -- about 20-22mpg at best. Dunno bout the magazines/Acura claims 29mpg and ppl on the board have claimed in the 30s.

First whoever is claiming 600 miles from a tank is either a liar or stupid. That is BS.

CLS tank is 17.2 Gals or 65 liters. I red line at 14.5 gals. So, there is 2.7 Gal of Reserve.
Assuming a a full tank means 14.5 Gals or 15 Gals, then 600 miles per full tank indicated a 40 MPG! a CLS doing that would be the best ecological V6 with 260HP ever.

Simply the 600 miles does not make sense.

Note even with 17.2 Gals 600/17.2= 34.88 MPG... no way a CLS can do that!

You can get 600 miles on a tank of gas if:

1.You flunked 5th grade math class, or
2.You count the mileage behind the tow truck that took you to a gas station when you ran out of gas, or
3.You fat fingered the 6-key and meant to hit the 3-key.

I've never heard of anyone claiming 600 miles either. The most I've ever heard anyone claim is about 450 mi. I've gotten 425mi a few times and that was mileage barely into the 30s which is certainly possible.

I got 32 MPG once... My first tank when I was driving very conservatively. Now that I'm in my "normal" driving mode, I get between 24 and 29 mpg, depending upon how much city driving I do.

How do you figure? 425mi, assuming you used all 17.2G = 24.7mpg ..

Crippen,

I guess he may had a max of 425 miles for a full tank to be on the safe side say he used 15 Gals So he got 28.33 MPG or 29 MPG. If he crossed 450 miles that's 30MPG.

Still anything in High 20's MPG is pretty good for a V6 that weigh 3600lb.

Yup yup, i wasn't thinking.
Still is alot. You have to be driving REALLY conservatively to achieve that I think ... ?
