Coming home tonight, I was sitting at a light in the number 1 lane right at the crosswalk. There are two lanes going this direction which narrow into one lane to cross a bridge about 1/3 mile ahead of where I was stopped. While I was stopped, the truck came up behind me and stopped. While waiting for the light to change, he moved over to the #2 lane so he was even with me at the crosswalk. The light turned and he took off. I was half expecting him to do that, so I was ready. But I didn't go until he went. By the time I floored it, he had about 1/2 car length on me. Enough for me to recognise it as a Blazer or Jimmy. I had VSA on and my tires are OEM with 29,000 miles and they're getting pretty thin. I triggered VSA on the near crosswalk paint and then again on the crosswalk on the far side of the intersection. It was dark out, but I was at least a couple of car lengths ahead by the time I stopped accelerating at 65mph. (It was a 45 zone and the road goes right past the local police shooting range.) By then he moved into my lane and turned left into a condo complex. What the hell was he thinking?
