I need some part numbers!!

I have a 2003 CLS 6mt and think my front ball joints are going out. There is a hard clunk coming from the front right when I hit a big bump. I have searched all over the board and the internet and I cant find the part numbers for the front upper ball joints. I want the OEM pieces. Are they the same as the lower ball joint? Also does anyone know the part numbers for the front lower ball joints. thanks, jim

It's listed under the Knuckle but they don't list the ball joints as separate parts. You may need to call them.

thanks for the quick reply,
I have fount that schematic. I have found the part number for the lower ball joint. it is 06523-s84-415 I think and you do have to show up or call to get it apparently. I know people have pressed out and replaced the upper ball joint as well as the tie rod ball joint. what are those part numbers? are they the same? Thanks, Jim

Also,
I have been searching this on the G2 TL side and they are using the same parts as us. I was wondering what was the best parts to go with and I don’t want any of the adjustable stuff I only want OEM or better but first and foremost I want to know what the deal is with the oem part numbers for the upper ball joint only and the tie rod end ball joint only and if they are the same. I cant find this info anywhere. I know you can replace just the tie rod end ball joint because my shop manual shows the procedure for it.

Might also be your top hat. My rears are broken and the effect is the exact same as what you are describing.

When you say it may be the top hat, do you mean that it may be the bottom rubber bushing where the top of the strut meats the hat and that it has deteriorated or compressed? What part numbers on the diagram on the link below do you think are broken on your rears? look at the link labled rear. I already have new hats for both fronts and new rubber bushings but I have not put them on yet so they will also be getting replaced. Those parts being; 7,7,18, and 8 in the diagram on the link below labled front? That is what I have new and will be installing.

Anyone know how often these parts, including the ball joints, wear out anyway. I know that is probably a subjective question. I have read about many people having to replace ball joints at less than 50000 miles on the g2 ct/tl and the g3 tl. I drive 65% highway doing 75-95mph and 35% city doing less than 50mph. I have 98000 miles on the clock and I probably drive aggressivly.

Most importantly what do you guys know about the part #'s for the upper ball joint only and is it the same as the lower? Also what is the part for the tie rod end ball joint and is it sold seperatly?

Thanks again for all your help guys, Jim

Call your local acura dealer. Up until recently you had to buy the whole knuckle or uper arm to replace it. Now they carry the ball joint separately. As for the tierod, i think you have to buy the whole end, not just the ball joint

53540-S84-A01 END, R. TIE ROD
53560-S84-A01 END, L. TIE ROD

Yeah, I found the tie rods as well but thanks for the part numbers. I thought maybe you could replace the ball joint only but what is the point if the tie rod only cost $35?

So nobody knows about the upper ball joint? Can it be had seperate of the upper control arm and what is the part/part#? Thanks again for all the help guys

Yes Both ball joints can be replaced separately from the arm or knuckle. I dont know the factory part #s. Thats why i mentioned to call the dealer. They can or will look them up for you.
