I need expert opinions! What do you guys think of this?

First of all Im new to the board, just wanna say whats up to everyone.

Now down to business.
I am looking at this 03 CL-P. Its got 31k on the odometer and had the oil jet pump installed by Park Ave. But it also has some mods that I am not sure I want on the car and I dont know how they will effect the warranty. Its also a good sign whoever owned the car drove it pretty hard. Its been debadged which i dont mind, but the other minds worry me. Can any of you tell any mods that are on there from the pics. I can see the CAI and the bar, and obviously the covers. Anything else? How easy is it to change that piece behind the grill, the blue piece, I want it back to black. Any help would be appreciated. I'll try to put the pics in here, if they don't work I'll also put a link to the album.

Alex

I know they are small... sorry! Anyone know a good free photo hosting site?

Cusco/Eibach STB
AEM CAI w/bypass
Possible headers, ceramic coated (those don't look stock).
Looks like it might be lowered too, but can't tell from those pictures.
Cleared headlights, with new sidemarkers and possible hi beams.
The road lamps were removed.

That is ch1276's old car. It was not beat on, just modded a little.

You can send him a PM (private message) and I'm sure he'll answer any questions you have about the car.

You don't want those headlights, they will slow you down and cause you to get tickets and harashed by the cops. Since I'm such a nice guy I'll trade you mine and I won't even charge you.

The part that is painted blue is very easy to fix, there are only about 8 pop in screws that are holding the plastic part in and all you need to do is pop it out and repaint it black or even use paint thinner to take the paint out.

They shouldn't affect the warrenty at all. Some dealers will hassle you more than others thoguh.

well im from jersey, and all I have been hearing is good things about Park Ave. I also heard that the service manager is on this board too. So I would probably bring it there. Anyone know if Park Ave would hassle me at all (if i bought the car). McLaren.. u know if the car runs good, tranny probs etc?

well that definately is my old car...here are the mods: comptech springs, koni yellows, cross drilled/slotted rotors, axxis metal master pads, & goodrich carbo lined brake lines all installed at park ave. It may be time for new pads. The headers are OBX ceramics, they peeled a little, but other than that no problems. Aem CAI obviously, the bypass has a slight tear, you may want a new one. The headlights were cleared about 2 years ago, never fogged and were closed very neatly. And there is the Eibach control bar. Engine parts were painted and chromed by a body shop.

Honestly its a hot car, but I dont think im going to get it, thats too many mods for me. too many things to worry about. I just want a stock cl but im having trouble finding one in my price range with low mileage. I am also worried about how the guys at park ave are gonna feel about keeping the warranty.

As far as I know and have heard, Park Avenue is one of the mod-friendliest dealerships. All the parts were installed there, meaning they will warranty the parts.

You are fine.

well, i have the stock springs, i can sell you for $50, shocks i do not have though
If you go through the dealer they are going to charge you like $400 labor. I'm sure you can get it done at another shop for like $250

You would be a fool to buy a stock CL vs this one, this has most of the minor mods that you would eventunelly get anyways..Well if you decide, I'll swap my stock suspension with ya. I have 03 cls with 40k on it. All perfect condition. Do the springs yourself here's what I used https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...=suspensionast night,
thanks to nightQwill.

Honestly the comptech springs & koni yellows are a pretty comfortable ride compared to other drops imo. Also, the drop is not too low and I never had any scraping problems with the car scraping

You should be OK with buying that car. I got mine with the exhaust, wheels, and AEM CAI and H&R's. And now it has more. I have never been hassled by the dealer. And PAA is friendly with mods. Plus you really can't go wrong with buying a car from one of the Acurazine past owners....we take care of our shit.

Good luck.

ahhh decisions decisions... they are asking 15,995 for this. and i am looking at a stock 01 CL-P with 49k that is asking 14,500. I don't know what to do. Obviously the 03 is better with the warranty and everything, and it is a members car. AND if i really want the stock suspension I've already been offered trades... hmmmm... so all thats left is those headers to consider... and the price...

doesnt seem like much of a decision. i would DEFINITELY pay $1.5K for a 2 year difference. there are also certain things better on the 03 than on the 01 (headlights, taillights, side mirrors, etc...)

why do you want to have stock suspension and headers? you'll regret it later on...

or you can TAKE YOUR TIME and keep shopping. i shopped for 6 months until i found the perfect one. also do some research on the difference between the 01-03 CLs and figure out which one you like best...i liked the 02 (but i still want the 03 tails!!!)

In all honesty, if it's between the '01 CLP and the '03 lightly modded car.... go w/ the '03. Nothing on that car is too crazy @ all. And like someone said earlier, you'd probably end up getting it anyway. That is... if you stick around these boards.

hey ch1276
is the windshield tinted too? what are the tints.. 20%? 35% is legal in jersey right? Jersey City cops are would have a field day with me. Are the cleared out turn signals illegal too? i think soo.. i might have to put orange bulbs in them.
i would prob have to put proximity sensor and shock sensor on the alarm too, keep these jersey city punks from stealing the HIDs.

those pics 02cls posted... is that bayonne park? haha

lothian, i live in jersey city so i am well aware of the car theft ...lol
the alarm is pretty sensitive and has air horns hooked to the alarm, the inside of the car has a motion sensor, kill switches, and the windows roll up when you lock the doors.
The tints ar 20%. I only got one ticket and that was in north arlington....never been bothered by a jersey city cop....and yes that is bayonne park

I'm pretty sure the cleared corners isn't illegal as long as the bulbs still light up orange?

sounds good... where are u from in jc... i live in the heights.. right by mahattan avenue.. by white mana.. yumm...

you guys are doing a pretty good job of convincing me of buying the 03. This is a big investment for me so that why im taking my options so seriously, and thinking about returning the car to somewhat stock condition.

i need a car thats used to jersey city anyway...

I live in JC as well. Absolutely no problems with the cops.
lothian110: No need to return the car to stock. Just take care of it. The 03 is definately the way to go.

And by the way....just fyi...
