I need clarification. No spark plug wires?

I just read a post that says we have no spark plug wires! I have not looked for myself as the plastic shroud is too intimidating. Is this correct? How do it get spark?

just for those who don't know (tw1112) there are no plug wires on the Type-S. A coil pack sits on top of each spark plugs, there by eliminating the need. It's called DIS, Distrbutorless Ignition System. No carbs either ; )

do you think we could 'upgrade' the coil pack to get a hotter spark???

Yes, it is DIS, but that doesn't mean there needs to be a coil-on-plug install. DIS ignitions have been used for years with normally one coil pack between two cylinders, wasted spark method.

However, the coil-on-plug implementation is reletively new for wide OEM use.

As for upgrading them, really is no need. These are firing much hotter sparks already than what could ever be needed.

Actually there is a spark plug wire it just happens to be only about an inch or two long.It connects the coil pack to the spark plug. There is no need to upgrade your ignition system unless you are planning to go with forced induction or otherwise heavily modify your car.
