Similar run to the one Mantis is describing in the thread below. I hit 3rd about 78 and he hit WOT immediately after I did. Shifted to 4th and he gained for ~3 sec and my VTEC kicked back in and we were neck and neck. He was definitely stock against my I/H; although, he did have the track edition.

From 80-130 or so he wasn't going anywhere. We then shut down he started driving like a MOFO. He was pissed I'm sure. Proves that a CLS with I/H can make an identical run with a G35C, they run low 14's and so do I.

The G35c and 350Z owners think they drive a super car--whatever...(just like I did when I 1st purchased my CLS). Hell, I'm looking at the G35s (I need 4 doors and prefer RWD--I'm sure I will catch the BS comments for that remark!)

Would love to run a G35c 6MT from a stop--even though I would lose if the driver knew how to drive. With an average driver behind the wheel, he/she is not going to run low 14's. One bad shift and they lose!

About 3wks ago I ran an auto G35c from a stop sign. He got the jump and I was still ahead of him over 1/2 car length at ~80 mph.

I'll try and find the next victim this week with the new Yokos. Should get much more traction and response over the Sumitomos. Damn I wish I had the S/C...

 

how did you beat it? you got a jump on him and he gained on you to even it up. Sounds like a draw. Anyway, I don't have a hard time believing this because it you seem to have a pretty quick auto. Besides the G loses some of its advantage once rolling because its easier to launch a rwd car than a fwd car. With your mods you should be competitive with a G35c6 (although most times I think they would win).

That's why I love going up against the 35's, a modded CLS auto / stock 6MT will run neck and neck / beat a G35c. The G35 owner's will beg to differ but look at the facts--numbers don't lie. G35's run 14.6 AUTO / 14.1-14.3 6MT (stock of course). I run 14.2 with mods and the stock CLS AUTO runs 14.6.

When the time comes to race a modded G35 I will laugh it off after I lose and wait for the rest of my ass on that platter! Then I will finally purchase the G35s and continue beating the c's, except with 4 doors...

Thats kinda pushing it. On avg. most Auto CL's won't run a 14.6 bone stock.

Lot's of variables: Driver ability, trace, tempurature, etc. You could then argue the G35c AUTO will not run a 14.6 either. That's why street racing is fun I guess, because you never know! One day you might pull up to something buy a VW Bug or a Scion and get smacked down...:nutkick:

My point was more that from a role there is less chance of user error in a manual (with the exception of missing a gear - in which case the G would have been toast and it wasn't or wrong gear - again would have been toast...along with possibly the engine).
