I lost my mojo... I mean V-tec.
Well, I've noticed that My Vtec is virtually gone since my new tranny was installed. When I'm increasing in speed, its too linear without the extra pull in the Higher rpm's. I have since installed OBX headers and still no Vtec. I don't know if the new torque converter or tranny have anything to do with it or if there is something else wrong with the car. I also have a low howl at idle since I removed the resonator from the stock intake. Maybe the fuel to air mixture is off? I've heard other cars without the resonator and my car sounds a whole lot different. With the addition of headers, I have alot more torque down low and immediete throttle responce, but up top, there is no difference than stock. me and lou were doing some comparrison runs aroundf were I live and we were very close, too close. With almost no traction we managed to run neck and neck as I started to pull slightly towards the end of 100mph+. Maybe his lightweight wheels allowed him to keep up? i just need my Vtec back, any suggestions?

why PAA? I took it there once and they kinda messed up my intake installation, not big deal but i seriously don't want to drive down to jersey and come back with a big ? and a ticket from the highway patrol.
by the way, I installed a short ram one time and drove with it for 2 days without reseting the ecu. then I couldn't take the low howl or ufo noice associated with it so I reverted back to the stock. the car had the same symptoms it has now. So I reset the ecu and them car went back to normal. this time around, i reset the ecu and didn't notice any difference.

A new tranny installation? Did you get a new ECU too?
If so, I suspect that Acura sneaked a "detuning" somewhow in the new ECU... Hit the dyno and get a graph... Did you check if your IMRC is working?

yep i agree ... Rondog's engine has the power but I think that the new tranny feels less aggresive. My car at Vtec feels like it pulls more than Rondog's but it is only cause of the tranny.
O and Rondog nice runs I had a blast and that really helped me to make my decision. We will see what happens when I get my Comptechs. We'll talk about it at the meet later today.

Hey ron..my shit does the same thing. It's been like tihs since the summer for me. Seems that you gas it and it just slwoly creeps and doesn't down shift for the quick "thrust." I'm thinking its the MIRC thing. Haven't checked it as I have no been in NY for quite sometime. Let us know how it goes.

I dont know the problem, but heres an educated guess:
When my brother put on a CAI on his integra, it was idling at some crazy RPM. We pulled the battery or the fuses, i dont remember which (does the same thing anyhow) and let it sit for a while. We put everything back and then started it and i guess the ECU fixed itself. Could it be a similar problem (obviously not same simptoms)?

damn, since the tranny gat replaced, its been like this, bout a month. I have to go all the way to PAA to get this fixed if thats the case. Gonna check tommorow with bigman to see if thats the case. how long is the fix take, is there an adjustment or a repalcement for the part?

i saw the actuator and yes, it did open at the higher rpm's. I really don't know what it is that is causing my car to act sluggish when it is in V-TEC, feels like there is no power up there. there is also a mumming noise at idle since I took out the intake resonator. I'm baffled and curry acura already diagnosed my car with nothing wrong with it. DAMN.

no slack in the throttle, I mean the engine just wails and the car is extremely responsive down low, its just the power doesn't match the engine scream up top, like there is soething missing. I would dyno it but there are no dynos in the Yonkers or 5 burough area that i know of. any suggestions?

is it possible that even tho the actuator seems to b working, the butterfly valve is still not opening??? u need to crack open the engine to check that out unfortunately

If operating properly you can hear the plate click open inside the plenum.
If it doesn’t sound right then you need to pop the top off and check, which isn’t too hard.

You just remove the plenum cover and the upper plenum plate. There are no fluid passages here so it really isn't too different than messing with an intake.
