its not a pontiac, its a holden monaro!

if your going to be coy about it, then technically honda/acura only makes 3 cars: the accord, the nsx, and the s2000, because believe it or not, every other car other than the above mentioned is a derivative of the accord chasis!

the car is going to have some nice handling despite weight. the production version loaned to motorweek had on 18's, and the car is totally slammed from the factory. I mean zero finger length gap, all four corners!

It's a good looking car, and for a Pontiac it's impressively free of body cladding and tacked on crap.

However, I think the Heritage of the GTO deserves a car with a little more flare. I saw pics of the new car with functional Ram-Air hood scoops and it was an improvement. But still, the car needs a little more dramatic styling.

This car wasn't designed as a GTO, it was the Monaro, and then they slapped some GTO badges on it.

My thoughts.

That's my beef too. With options, $35k? I don't think so--no matter how quick it is...

yeah. but pontiac has some things to prove before consumers feel comfortable paying that kind of money for one.

Now they say the GTO is way too bland.

I for one think it is a great step forward for Pontiac. The car is going to be solid and very streetable. The magazines are running deep into the 13's with them and the aftermarket is still very strong with the Camaro/Firebird parts still all over the place.

I will seriously consider buying one when the prices come down.

Just think what will happen to one of these cars when the Lingenfelter's of the world start working on them.

You will have the worlds blandest yet quickest sleeper.

Easily in the 4s with a couple of Vette mods and better sticky rubber.

What do they have to prove? The GTO is a very nice car for what it costs and delivers, plain and simple.

Agreed, and isn't the average vehicle price nearing $30k?? So in relation to the US market, $35k isn't all that much and IMO a good deal for what is presented in the GTO package.

I've always wanted a LS1, but in a more practical vehicle. This is it.

That car is a blank canvas. It's just like the TL and CL. They are both simple in styling, yet pleasing to the eye. But, as soon as you hit either up with a body kit, they look great. But the GTO is even deeper than that. It has the body that an aftermarket body kit will love and it has an engine with tons and tons and tons of performance options available. Also botht the manual and auto a very close in performance, with the auto being better once you start adding a lot of power increasing mods. I bet if you put a 3000 stall tq converter on that car you would see low 13's stock. And the car handles pretty well. It pulls more G's than the Cl and TL and it has independant rear suspension vs. a solid axle like the old f-bodies. Last, i went to the dealer and they had no markup on the car, they just werent budging from the msrp. Which is ok because the car is new. Shit, acura doesnt want to budge on the new TL either.

IF I had to go Domestic AND had to buy a GM sports sedan, I'd lean more towards the 400hp CTS-V. (Of course I'd have to spend about $15G more but at least it'd be a Caddy.)

Luckily, I dont have to buy domestic or GM.

But have you seen the interior on the CTS-V? IMHO the Pontiac's interior is the better of the two.
