I just talked to Borla!!!

They are willing to make an exhaust for our car. This will be dyno tested. The person who will give them the car, will get the exhaust for free. The only setback is they will need the car for 8days-2weeks. They are located in Oxnard, California. If any of you are interested please respond. I would do it but unfortunately I'm located in IL. They car has to be a Type S CL or TL.

DAMN! That's one helluva deal! Can't they just develop the thing over this way? Great news, and great fortune for one of us...

Unfortunately their facilties are in California. Borla is reasonably priced. (Cheaper then Comptech) Better tips. Full stainless steal. I know I would buy it.

Borla is just about the best all around Exhaust tuner in the US. They make good dynoing exhausts for just about every car under the sun and have contracts with lots of local shops in major metro cities.

Finally! I hope it's quiet like the Comptech and looks just as good or better. I'd hate to give my business to Comptech, again. They should've been the first ones to specifically make an exhaust for the Type-S. Hopefully the Borla will give gives us a couple more HP, but that's doubtful since the stock system is already pretty good.

Maybe it'll have oval-shaped tips too that'll fit better in our exhaust cutouts. Sweet! Wish i lived near them.

I am in Cali.. but I am 400 miles away from them.. I would need a rental for those 2 weeks and that would already cover the money I am saving from getting a free exhaust.

This is just what the Comptech guys told me. The b-pipe before the axle split was dyno'd and considered useless on the CL Type-s...the only way that you can make more power, I'm assuming, is to increase pipe diameter by 1/4", but the increase in hp is also at the expense of low-end torque...probably because if you look under the car...you'll notice that the pipe is nearly straight, one little detour..not a real bend.

I think I was told the same thing, makes sense. That's why most of the exhaust systems out for this car are axle-back and not cat-back exhausts.

But...once I get that Comptech SC...I'll be looking to Borla or somebody that'll do mandrel bent piping for me to get that extra power.

I can't justify leaving my car with heavy-right-footed strangers for minimal HP gains and a louder car.
I can think of better ways to increase HP.

Spiro, did you ask them about making headers for the CL-S? Comptech definitely needs some competition in the market, their prices are ridiculous, and all for Accord parts.

Think of how feasible this is.. You lend them ur car for 14 days.... and in California of all places. You get a what... 600-800 exhuats sytem? You do the math...
Rent a car these days is like what 45 dollars these days....

$45 X 15 = $675.

Assuming you're a regualr Cali commuter who does 200 miles a week in a car that gets combined 20 miles per gallon @ 1.80 per gallon... That's 20 glalons of Fuel...

$1.70 x 20 = 34 bucks.

Factor in you may have to pay mileage on the rental, factor in you'll be driving a rental..... I'd rather not lend my car out... It's just not worth it.

I'd think that their prices will be similar to Comptech's, but I'd like to see more equipment specifically designed for Type-Ss. Maybe they'll be able to squeeze out a few extra HP, with the headers at least. Or, even better, maybe they'll develop headers that make more of a difference under the 5K RPM range.

Me too. Borla makes some of the greatest exhaust products. I hope everything works out well for us.

Spiroh - I called Don at extention 217 and he directed me to Donny in R&D. Donny out for lunch, but Don took the information and told me I will get a call back soon to schedule everything. I will let you know when the schedule and details are hammered out.

I'm interested in going cat-back and eliminating the restrictive resonator that is used on our Type-S cars. I have owned many Borla products, and they are the highest quality!! I'm very excited about the possibilities

I will give Don a call also. It seem's in my trip to the del mar fair a lot of people have jumped ahead of me. I too was going to ask them to R&D a header for my CL'S. It won't be a problem to leave my car there for a month if they needed it. I am moving to Hawaii Aug. 15th and probably wont be able to ship my car till Dec.

Just what I heard, but did you know those resonators have a use?? The guys at Comptech were saying that Honda engineers actually design these systems in mind for a number of reasons. They were saying that resonators actually help mid-range torque. I have heard this from the Miata guys too...that if you remove the resonators on the intake pipe...you actually lose a lot of mid-range torque. Just a thought...
