I have money to spend....on my car.

It's going to be bonus time soon, the stock market is doing a bit better, and a tax refund is inevitable....so I'm ready to work on my 1 year old (in March) CL-S. Where shall I begin?

In order, I want to improve cornering (spring?), then increase hp (headers?), and what else? I'm not the automative type so I have no idea where to begin or where to buy from but your brief comments will help me when I go back and reread/search the forums. It going to take me about 60 days to research and accomplish all this.

V1 and a new [unscratched] wheel is already a given. TIA

If I had the money to do anything to my car right now, I would work on the handling and braking power of the car before I get all the 'go-fast' mods. I just think that with every part that you add that adds to the power, you increase your braking distance...also, more speed will cause you to accelerate harder, which I think you would need better body control. Just my opinions..

Oh yeah, if your going for braking power, think...Brembo! I love the look for those things!!

I hear that the springs and sways are great for the CL-S..also some people are going with koni shocks just to help out a little more.

Rims/Tires are always a great thing to add to the beauty of the car..

Ken, sounds like you'll be getting a good chunk of change to work with so:

spings
sways
tires
headers
cai
brakes

Shouldn't be more than $2.5k-3k to get all that done.

How about upgrade your road warrior status? Now how cool would that be if you integrated your iPaq into your dash so that it rises up or something then integrate your phone into that...ie you dial from the iPaq screen or whatnot. I think that'd be pretty sweet. So you can browse the Acura-cl.com boards when youre stuck in bumper to bumper traffic lol.

So how good is the market again?

Btw, how'd you get a hold of the iPaq? Those things seem to be impossilbe to come by. And how did it compare to the HP Jordana?

So far all I've done is the springs and sways and I'm VERY happy with them. Great ride quality and the complete elimination of body roll. If you don't like the dropped look, I think the sways are what's actually eliminating most of the body roll. I personally don't like the look of lowered cars, but I love the look of a lowered CL-S. The drop is only 1.25 inch in front and 1.0 inch in back... pretty modest. Most of my non-car-enthusiast friends can't even tell it's dropped. Haven't had any problems with scraping on anything yet either and my neighborhood is full of speed humps!

I chose these things over the headers because:
1) It's true... power without control can be pretty dangerous!
2) Car needs more help in the handling dept than in the speed dept.
3) There are daily driver differences with springs/sways. With headers, you don't know they're there unless you're getting on it really hard.

For me:
1) Headers are next, then possibly a CAI. I'm starting to worry about gas mileage problems with a CAI however. I think there will be a noticeable decrease.
2) Getting performance tires when the OEM's wear out.
3) Haven't thought too much about brakes. Car could definitely use some better ones, but I can certainly live with the OEM's.

kensteele: I think you should go with the springs, sways, braided brake lines and maybe even a brake upgrade before you get the headers. You don't really need more power and unless you wind the motor out a lot, you won't feel the difference. IMHO.

I'm going with springs and sways. Seems that is the most popular consensus. Now that I'm starting to read more of the spring/sways posts, that too appears to be a complicated decision in and of itself.

Thanks for all the comments, I do think that the headers have fallen off my list because I probably don't need them as much as I thought (at least for now).

That would be awesome to integrate the iPaq. I have the Jornada 540 but it is nowhere near as good as the iPaq. The Jornada 720 is rather large but it's good to have a keyboard.

It's part of my job to test and evaluate CE devices in addition to digital phones (I work for Sprint PCS). Rumor has it that a more powerful, faster iPaq with more memory is due out later this year. I got mine thru the company but they are indeed difficult to find now. You may want to wait for the better iPaq.

Those Timeport pagers are cool but if you can get ahold of an iPaq, I'd go for it.
