I was shown the picture of the cupholder and the part number. I ordered it and got it today but it doesn't exactly sit down as the old cupholder did. What customizing do I do to make it fit properly??

TL cupholder? I don't remember anything about the TL cup holder. There is a new CL cupholder. Part number is in my sig. Is that what you mean? If so, you have to remove the two small tabs in the front. I clipped them off with a pair of wire cutters.

Its the same thing. Actually, I think the crappy cupholder found on early 01 CL's has been replaced with the new one. So asking for either a CL or TL cupholder will get you the upgraded part.

well the parts man at the dealership said that it was a TL part number. But I did remove the tabs... Kinda wish I didnt. I could've put two small slots in the cup area to let the cuphold tabs to plug into but I already cut the tabs... it sits fine, but you can easly move it, dont likethat but I have it now...

Ok so if you don't like the way it sits because you clipped the tabs, why not just throw it in the garbage (or sell it to someone else on this board, same thing) and go get another one and try it again, it's only $6. It's suppose to fit either way....

If your car doesn't have holes for the tabs, it won't fit down right. Then the doors won't close easily. I cut the tabs and it works great. Fits tight too.

No it closes just fine, no probs with that... and it holds 20oz coke and can but I still feel uneasy about something that I can move with my hands.

Use a few pieces of velcro and put on the bottom on the sides. That'll hold when you try to extract your Big Gulp. Works for me!
