I fought the ATF system... AND WON!
Ok - so I was changing my ATF tonight (started around 10). Took me about 15-20 mins to get the damn drain plug out (much straining), then the drain went just fine. Ok - so I clean the crud off of the magnet at the end of the plug, put my brand-spanking-new washer on, tighten down, and I'm ready to fill... except where's the GD fill hole??!!! I was worried I was going to have to fill it through the dip stick tube! Until, that is, I found the bolt that said "ATF". So I embark on trying to loosen the bolt.
HOLY SHIT, BAT MAN!
Over the course of the next 2 hours, I alternatively rested and struggled with the bolt.
Now - mind you, I am not a lightweight. I can bench my weight (200) and work-out 3x a week. But this GODDAMN BOLT WOULD NOT FREE UP!
So I had to get creative.
I used ice.
I took 3 cubes of ice and wrapped them around the ATF fill bolt (you know - the old concept that metal shrinks with temp)until it was cold but the tranny was still warm - and banged the fudge out of the bolt with a hammer until I thought it was enough... and viola! It loosened!
Moral: Get an impact wrench. With a long extension.

Uh - dude - don't you have a 1st gen 3.0?
Man - you must have been REALLY stoned if you forgot that part.
But yeah - there's a 3/8" bolt behind and to the left of the stock air box - just to the left of the master cylinder and brake resovoir. I know it's near the brake stuff because I kept banging my #$%^$%^@$%^ing knuckles on it.
And THEN I forgot to re-connect the wire harness that connects just to the right of the ATF fill hole on the tranny - it seemed like it was the lock-up part of the converter or something.
Anyone with a HELMS know WTF that wire is? I drove around the neighborhood REAL SLOW on the test drive and stopped and discovered its absence.
