I finally got my car back after a month of taking public transit

Well, I finally got my car back. What a debacle. My friend, who's an autobody guy, recommended I go to his ex-boss's shop to do the M5 spoiler, Versus body kit, repair some dents(1 being a big one on the driver's side fender just above the wheel) and repaint(passenger door got keyed). The shop does good work, but my friend wanted a change of pace so he moved on.

Anyways, the shop is called "Autobody One". They promised I would get the car back under a week. Well, I didn't get it back for 3 looooong weeks...my friend went to see what was up and found out they just let my car sit there for two weeks to work on other cars. Needless to say, I called my friend's ex-boss and freaked out on him. So, I get my car back. The paint looks very good, M5 spoiler was installed in place of the old oem-like fibreglass spoiler. Regardless, I'm never going back to them.

pros
-very good quality work and paint job(they didn't just tape everything up...they actually removed all the trim, etc. to paint the panels)
-with the insurance claim for the passenger door key mark, I only paid $1100 CAD for the entire job. $100 for the insurance deductible and $1000 out of my own pocket for the dents/dings repairs, spoiler paint/install, repaint(everything was painted except the bumpers, sideskirts and roof)

cons (sort of)
-3 lousy weeks(the good thing was I saved money on gas and parking by taking the bus to school...lots of hunnies take the bus).
-Autobody One refused to give me a courtesy car(no big deal...see above. The insurance co. called today asking if I had used a rental car or courtesy car...I told my insurance co. that I had not which was true. My guess is Autobody one must have tried to claim compensation for one...if they did, sucks to be them.
-They refused to install the body kit...even went so far as to say the kit was damaged beyond salvaging. I told them that I found a shop willing to restore the kit. Autobody One then said they'll install the kit after it was restored...yeah right, what makes you think you'll get the job and my money after bs'ing me and making me look stupid

Anyways, on to the good part!!!

During those 3 long weeks, I found a body shop to do the body kit. Or, rather they found me. I posted on my local site for advice about the kit and they saw the thread and contacted me. New Diamond Collision (AK Autoworks being their "show" division) is a new shop and I was weary to consider them since they were unproven, but I decided to give them the chance because they took the initiative and provided me with all the information to make up my mind. They even have an online chatroom to answer questions. One of the guys stayed up till 2 am on his own time answering my questions(talk about dedication )

So, I had to wait a week for them to fit me in their schedule. No problem...that gave me the opportunity to install all my Comptech mods

Anyways, the day came and I dropped off my car. That was saturday and they said they'll be done by wednesday or thursday. It was ready by wednesday afternoon. Wow, they pulled through on their word.

I'll let the quality of New Diamond Collision/AK Autowork's work speak for itself...see the pics they posted of my car on their site.

(remember, they did the body kit install...not the paint job...if I had found them earlier, I would have gotten them to do the job that was given to Autobody One. They have totally earned my business)

AND SPECIAL THANKS TO chris3240929 for the Versus Kit. I believe he still has one left. I read it over on the other "Acura" forum. $575 shipped!!!

The only thing left is the custom install of my audio system. It's a mixed blessing. Work begins on monday...but, I'll be without my car for another 1 1/2 weeks.

I'm glad things worked out.

Does the paint on the front bumper match? From the photos it looks a bit off.

That kit would just look badass if it were molded to the body panels

Sure thing. I just need to get it back from the stereo shop before I can take pics. Should be about another week...so hang tight.

Why does the body kit stick out into the wheel well about 1/4"?
