hyundai's making quite a statement with this car, plus its rwd, pretty rare amongst the cars in its class.. they are working on changing that "i cant be caught in a hyundai" attitude and i think its working..

For its price and its characteristics (RWD, turbo, look) I must say it is HOT!!!!
but... it is a hyundai. who knows, maybe if enough people buy it and give me good review of it, then i might consider hyundai as one of my possible choice.

When i saw this picture, i saw the mustang first and I thought Hyundai copied mustang. BTW the side view reminded me of the lexus is, mitsubishi eclipse, and toyota solora

I dont see anything wrong with copying other car companies however a few times I had to do a double take to make sure that I saw a Hyundai instead of an accord. The tail lights are very similar on one of the models..
The other car designs that I see in hyundai's cars are Mercedes, BMW, and a few others added to what was mentioned above.
Either way, this should be in car talk...

Hyundai is spending A LOT of dough in advertisement and actually following through to raise their name higher to the level that Toyota's and Honda's enjoy. I think it will do it.
Take for example its Veracruz. They reversed-engineered it in a sense, to compete with the LEXUS SUV which is 2-3x its price. Motortrend tested both and actually put VERACRUZ on top versus the LEXUS. That's how good they're becoming, if only you forget the stigma of the HYUNDAI badge. Their price kicks ass, quality is up and coming, reliability is rising, and they're doing good all around.
The GENESIS especially will let Hyundai penetrate the performance markets like the stupid ass Tiburon couldn't. If you look at front bumper/fascia area of GENESIS, it actually copies A LAMBOURGHINI. You got some VIPER trident vents in hood. The headlight and rearlights resemble that of a LEXUS. The rear & exhaust obviously resembles G37's.
I mean, for $30,000, you'll get 300 horses, and a car that reminds people of vipers, lambo, lexus, and infiniti. That's a bad thing?

don't keep pushing hyundais down... like toyota and honda they have had a negativity from most people when they were first starting in the US. now look at where they're at. i can honestly say they aren't that bad, and give it a few years they're going to be more of a competitor.
and it looks like a toy to me... meh

I can't get over the rear window...to me it's straight 100% ugly. Other than that, great looking and possibly a great performer. Looks a bit like a 350Z front, Accord middle, Toyota Camry rear imo though.

nevermind...
this is the Genesis Coupe... I was confused, its like the Altima Coupe, when you said Genesis I thought of the 4 door Genesis I saw...
this is still based off the Genesis platform, so this will be a pretty damn big car, huh?
how fast can it be being based off a 4 door luxury sedan platform? It still weighs about the same as the 4 door and R&T and C&D said like 6 secs or a little less for the 4 door so this cant be much quicker if at all... maybe like TLS quick for like 4 or 5 grand less??? f-that, I'll spend the extra 4 or 5 and get an Acura!

Hyundai Genesis Coupe
Hyundai confirmed that the stylish Genesis Coupe will offer two engines - a turbocharged four cylinder and an upgraded version of the 3.8 liter Lambda V6. The four cylinder will put out an estimated 212 horsepower using regular grade gasoline and 223 on premium. The V6 will put out 306 on regular and 310 on premium, which Hyundai says will make it the least expensive 300 horsepower coupe in the world.
Hyundai claims that the V6 model will hit 60 miles per hour in under six seconds. The top-line SE model will include Brembo four-piston brakes (14" in front, 13.4" in rear - both ventilated) and a Torsen limited-slip differential. It will also come with 19" wheels, whereas other models will come with 18" wheels.
The Genesis Coupe is based on the same rear wheel drive architecture as the Genesis sedan, although as of yet there is no news of V8 availability in the Coupe.
Hyundai said that three transmissions will be offered, though only a six speed manual and a ZF six-speed automatic were mentioned. An Infinity audio system with iPod connectivity, XM Satellite Radio and Bluetooth will be standard.
On the safety front, six airbags and ESP will be standard. Enthusiasts - the target market for the Genesis Coupe - will no doubt be pleased to learn that the ESP will be entirely defeatable.
The Genesis Coupe is one of seven vehicles Hyundai plans to introduce over the next 24 months. It'll be on sale early next year and though pricing was not announced, Hyundai repeatedly stressed that it will be the least expensive 300 horsepower coupe on the planet.
“Genesis Coupe is the most thrilling, most emotional Hyundai yet,” said John Krafcik, vice president, product development and strategic planning, Hyundai Motor America when the concept was first shown. “When it hits the market in early 2009, we aim to deliver a driving experience that challenges cars like Infiniti G37, at prices more like Mitsubishi Eclipse.”
There is no Tau V8, the Tau V8 in the sedan is like 360 some HP, it will come with a 310 HP Lambda DOHC V6 in SE trim, and it will come with a 6 speed manual and a Torsen Helical mechanical LSD and big Brembos...
I think I'm starting to like the Genesis Coupe more and more.... you should look up some of the pics and video on YouTube of it doing controlled skids and burnouts... pretty badass for a little over 30 fully optioned...
