hybrid rear strut brace :preview:
this project is in the works, will be completed in the next 3 weeks.
this brace will not only stiffen the chassis, it will serve as a mounting point for my sub box. more to come on that. all i can say is it feels good to have a friend w/ a tig welder.

wow...looks pretty. How much stiffer do you think that will make your car? I would imagine more of the flex would be closer to the actual strut towers and not the rear of the seat.
Regardless, it looks great.

thanks chikai. the brace bolts directly to the inside surface of the rear strut towers, so it should stiffen the unibody quite a bit. plus it will serve as a mounting point for my subwoofer box, which will also be made of aluminum. my system = lightweight.
I still don't see how this could be done unless you modify the top of the rear seat posts. This is one reason why 6th gen Accord has been out for almost 5 years and no one has a rear strut tower bar for it. The construction of the rear strut towers and layout is exactly identical. You would have to leave the plastic cover off and possibly cut off part of the seat posts just to fit a bar on there. Leaving the head liner plastic cover off introduces extra noise into the cabin.
did you read my posts and look at the pictures? the brace bolts through the strut towers into the wheelwell. i know it's not a traditional design, but like you said thats not really possible. also, it has to be in the trunk so my sub box can bolt to it.
i'm not feeling much love from my cl brothers on this, WTF?.

my buddy tory has put about 10 hrs. in so far, including design, welding etc. but it still needs more work. it will look a little different when complete. i was gonna polish it but i'm thinking of having it anodized along w/ the sub box.
