When people say rev the engine, I don't think they mean like they're about to run the 1/4 mile.

I rev my engine to about 1500 and hold it there for about 10 seconds before I pull off. On when it's below 40 degrees though.

ok people do this to deice your windows.

bucket of cold wate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yes i know it doesnt make sense, but oh wait it does.

glass can crack if it changes temp too fast. this is why hot water is a no no. so cold water is the trick. just a bucket of cold water and then a towel to wipe the window down after so it doesn't freeze again....

There's more than one type of glass.

Cars use security glass. It doesn't crack, it shatters. It can withstand a lot more than regular glass. Changing the temp. of the glass from 20 degrees to 110 degrees won't shatter security glass but it might regular glass.

BTW - 110 is about the temperature of hot bath water.

WTF not just use the washer fluid? Hold that bastard knob towards you for 30 seconds and it'll melt off the majority of the ice. I only scrape the windshield if it has THICK ice on it, the rest of the windows will thaw out sooner or later on their own.

I've read more than a couple times that it hurts the clear coat, so be careful.
