It's funny I forget its there most of the time, only because I have had autos all my life. In a year I can say I've only used it like 10 times. I like to, just forget to. It's cool to swtich it over to manual. I like the fact we have a choice.

I use it from time to time. I do a lot of city driving and so it's not a lot of fun. I tend to use it a lot when braking.

I pretty much only use it to get into 5th early or if I need to accelerate quick without taking it to vtec.

used to use it all the time before i got new brakes, but i still use it because if i dont i usually end up shifting my car into neutral and hitting the gas instead of shifting.

I use it occasionally but not to break. I know the brakes aren't great but our car is notorious for having a glass transmission and I'd rather rather replace the brakes than the tranny

I used mine more than I did D5. It became 2nd nature to me... get in car, start motor, reverse from parking space/garage if need be, immediately put tranny in SS. The only time I really used D5 was if I was in stop and go traffic, on the phone, or doing something distracting I shouldn't be doing.

I use SS all the time, and when in gridlock traffic, ie.. stop go stop go stop go, I put it into (2) so it doesn't shift from 1-2 so much.

For passing to get the tranny into passing gear without the delay. Other than that is mostly just a toy.

I use the manu-matic every few days for:
- getting ready to pass I use it to drop down 1-2 gears before I launch
- assisting in braking on a downhill
- in mild stop and go traffic when its flowing just to keep the momentum even so that I don't have to accel / brake / accel / brake ...
In hard acceleration I don't since the auto is crisp and knows when its just right

Do you like it upshifting into 2nd for you?

My preference was gate shifting over SS. Still control upshifts and downshifts while allowing the tranny to use it's intelligence taking load into consideration.

Rarely to never, i only swing it over to see what gear the car is in when the shift was pretty iffy.

I use it fairly often; when i could use some quick acceleration or just for fun.
when i don't feel like bothering or worrying about forgetting it, i'll just keep it in d5

I was also wondering this. My dad flips out about it, but as long as you don't live in Vtec or redline it regularly, it should be fine, right?

SS is like having a clutch...without having the clutch.

well, I try it a few times a year just to remind myself of why gate-shifting is more fun. Plus it produces the best track times.

I'm with you. Less lag in shifts.
