how much will my speedo be off?

so I burned through my tires last year and I am sick of spending 500 a year on just tires.

so i came across these goodyear eagle f1 tires that are 225/35/18 and I bought them cause they are like 85% new still and were only 150 for 2.. so i wanna throw those on the front for better gripping and turning etc..

but I am curious how much is my speedometer going to be off?

anyone else running 225/35/18 ?? what you fellas think?

thanks everyone.

here's a calculator to determine changes you can expect to your speedometer. According to the above, and using 235/40/18 as a stock number (recommended as best for keeping odo in check), then inputting your new specs, shows your speedometer will read only 52.4, when stock setup would be going 55.

i also read that people claim it will be bad for the braking system ABS cause the tires are not the same circumference. and may throw a code

but then again when u put our spare tire on... it is way smaller and it doesn't throw a code. so i'm kinda lost here..

Doubt that, I used to run 205/40/18s (smaller than stock diameter) and yes speedo was off but never had any problems.

Austin why are you using that tire size when it's not stock CL tire size? It's 215/50/17. So....

When your speedo says 60 CL-S, you are actually Driving 63.1 mph, and @100 mph reads speedo, your actually 105.2 mph

I was always told the 235/40/18 is the closest 18" tire size to keep the speedometer accurate. my mistake.

Thanks Austin I didn't know the tires i had right now are not the proper ones for the car!! lol i should be rocking 235/40/18 not 225/40/18 that's why my speedo is off still. that's a wicked site man i was doing those calculations by hand last night and it was pissing me off.... nor did i trust them.

oh well my car will be much faster off the line with these smaller, stickier tires, and will likely corner as good if not better considering the tires have super stiff sidewalls which are narrower, even considering the fact the car will be leaning forward a bit as well.. but i love that look.

next year i will get a full set of 235/40/18s and an alignment and do it up properly... i am also getting my rims re-finished at that time as well since i hate hate hate scratches on my rims.

last year or 2 i have just been doing the front alignment by eye.. since my radius rod came loose!! and my car has been in major front right wheel accident.collision so literally i had to grind down the radius rod so the wheel is located in the correct spot front to back.. but it is slightly further out of the vehicle than the drivers side... therefore an alignment messes the car up because the wheel is the just outside the car with zero camber vs tucked properly.... bullshit i know

so basically i have to eyeball the front out which takes a few tries, but lukily i got a hoist at my disposal.

shitty situation but i still got my car, it drives DEAD straight and i love it to death... aside from the rear suspension noise but that's getting taken care of in a week or two as I am hunting it down through the process of elimination.

235/40/18 and 225/45/18 are te two most accurate sizes for our car if you want to run 18s.

This is the site that I like to use:

Exclamation

So I put the wheels on the front and. Get BSA light coming on a lt now. Usually under throttle it'll blink at me. But it's not cutting the power. I am worried this may be hurting the vsa system since it is working overtime now..

Is there a way to turn the vsa off so there is no light coming on the dash?

Or will I have to turn vsa off all the time now till the tires are worn out?

Are you sure that during the install one of the wheel speed sensors didnt get damaged? I would inspect those.
