How much does an "intake" matter?

Some people say that getting an intake won't really change anything, and its a waste of money, how useful is an intake (cold air)?

You may not feel any actual gain

But you might "hear" like you are going faster, because the intake improves the sound of the car especially in the vtec range

I just dropped in a K&N Filter in mine. Judging by what the members here say, it does work and they can feel the increase in HP. I've been watching for the Icebox from CT. I may get one of those.

it is proven to add hp, you might not feel it cause it only like 8-10 hp, but the power is def there. it also works better when u get exhaust and headers too.

actually you can feel the gain, the intake along with the headers are the most restrictive exhaust pieces on our cars.

if you swap it out you will feel a difference. I'll tell you right now though, you may not feel as much of a difference in the automatic as you would the 6 speed.

actually you could get by with just the headers and intake. upgrading the exhaust on our cars is a minimal gain, only at most 5 hp, nothing that is noticable really. But if you are running a S/C i'd definetly support the addition of the exhaust, but the addition of just the headers and the intake will suffice.
