That's definetly the thread. I'm sure you could bribe (read: pay off) 6spdmanual to give you some step by step instructions...The costs that aren't listed in that thread are the display module which is about $1500 and the DVD unit (goes in the trunk) which is about another $2k from dealer if I remember correctly. There are other things to consider, like a new console, the new A/C control panel you have to purchase, and loads of wiring harnesses. Luckily, as mentioned in that thread, OnStar and Navi are autonomous systems meaning that they don't depend or work with each other.

Question, does anybody know how complex the new Navi/Bluetooth/5.1 Audio system is in the new TL? from what I understand, each system displays information on the LCD as well on the dot matrix in the guage cluster, such as phone numbers being dialed, XM radio stations that are playing, etc...

I'm curious as to how integrated those systems are...

A good as the OEM navi looks in the dash, you'd be better off going with an after market Navigation System as it will be a whole lot cheaper.

That's true.

For all you guys wondering how much I spent, here is the list for what I paid.
Remember it's parts only not including labor.

Used DVD navi brain + a/c control - $600 (new one about $2000)
New screen - $200 (I bought it off eBay, new one is about $1200)
3 new main wire harness - $700
dash - $100
V.211C DVD disc $180
assistance when you get lost - priceless

Get a Pioneer N-1 for 1650 USD, well worth the money, and it has everything built into one din, and i havent heard any problems so far with the unit.

Wow that’s a hell of a deal. Mine has some scratches on it so in future I’d be definitely looking to swap out the screen. How easy was it to find on eBay?

u can get a reman screen at the dealer for like $300 or so...may be slightly more or less but I remember them not being too expensive. The only thing is they need ur old one for a core.

I'd just buy a CL with Navi instead, less hassle, has warranty, easier to sell later, and could be cheaper depending on the deal you get. Actually that's exactly what I did, but color in/out was the main reason I sold my first 6 speed for another one. So I upgraded to Navi too. Price diff for me was $750 and the new 6 speed had half the miles (7500), (but I'm a very good shopper)
