How much for 7500 mile service?

I just dropped my car at Rallye Acura in Roslyn and they are charging me $150 for the 7500 mile service. Am I getting ripped off? Seems kind of steep to me considering the main things are the oil change and tire rotation. I know they do a whole bunch of little things too, (Wiper inserts, check fluids, check brakes) but none of these takes longer than a few minutes. Can you guys please tell me what you have paid for this service at other dealers.
Thanks

wish i could remember, i am at 37,000 miles. I do know the regualr 3000 mile services are really cheap, but they do have what they consider "major" ones that are more. My 30k one was 450. But they do work on it a few hours, tear it down and check stuff out. It sucks, but if you want it to last you a long time, just have to suck it up. Mine goes in for the 37,500 in 2 weeks, that is $150. But i have not had any problems with Lehigh Valley Acura.

Alot of people here will tell you they got it done cheaper (search for 7500 miles service), but up here in the Northeast, that's the figure I've found.

I paid $151 for mine, and I did call around to 2 other local Acura dealerships. All of them had the same price. I think it's a northeast acura conspiracy

EDIT: Yes I agree that it's alot of money for what is essentually a oil change and tire rotation. I'm having the tensioner recall done and a bunch of other warrenty work done, so it's going to the dealer for the 15000 miles service, but I'll do the oil and tires myself at 22500.

Here in central PA, I was charged ~$65 for 7500 mile service so I would say they are asking you to bend over and hold your knee's

I forgot to mention that they also wash the car. I guess that is why the additional $85!

And don't forget they vacumme it too. That has to be worth a couple of bucks. I even had tire dressing on my car the last time.

I've never had a dealership service done on other makes that included the windsheild wiper replacement. I had thought that it was somnething particular to my dealership, but I guess it's standard practice. I thought the wipers where a nice touch for the extra $85.

That being said, I value my time, and sometimes it's nice to just have someone else do the work on the car. Heck, it's only money

My dealer washes, vaccums, cleans windows, and I get a loaner. Plus an alignment was included in my 7500 mile service

yes the loaner is very nice, i always get a new TL every time. I agree, they are probably overpriced for the "big service" as they call them, but at least you know who is doing the work as opposed to going to some little greasy shop.

Besides the oil change, which you can do yourself or at local shops, I really do not see any point of bring your car to the dealer to service. After all, you car is only 7500 miles, what else needs to be serviced!!!Many of the visual checks you can easily do yourself. I bought a $40 life-time rotation and balancing job from my local Wal-mart and they have done a good job. Already rotated 3 times since I bought my tires from Tirerack and installed at Wal-Mart.

The 7500 service is just another way for the dealers to make money, period.

Of course most people can perform these tasks on their own, but going to the dealer isn't going to cost that much more money if you figure your time it to it. As Jens H. has stated many times before if you always have your car serviced at the dealer you have more of a chance to get something done under "goodwill".

Not to bash your choice for service, but do you really want to worry if the highschool kid who rotated your tires at walmart remembered to tighten all of your lugs

Let's remember that, as stated, Jens works for a dealer, so what else is he going to say. It doesn't take a rocket science to rotate tires, and anybody can screw up tightening lug nuts (that's why you check them), you also pull forward a car length and then look behind the car to make sure somebody didn't forget to put the drainplug back in. Doesn't say much for the business if they only do "goodwill" work for customers who pay for overpriced oil changes..

For your information, my Wal-Mart guy use torque socket for my wheels. I know because I watch it every time. So never assume something you don't know. I am not so sure how many Acura dealers ALWAYS use torque socket. If you don't know what a torque stick is. look it up

Well, just picked up my car and I will never return to Rallye Acura!! I was quite willing to accept the $150 charge so long as I was extremely satisfied. Well I am actually pissed off! My free wash appeared to be a quick hose off. There were several spots of bird shit still on the car and all of the rims still had a light coating of brake dust. If they even rubbed a brush over the rims that would have come off. Then I got into the car and realized that my free wash does not apparently include vacuuming! Ok, I am done venting. Please support my cause, do not accept $150 oil change/tire rotation from Rallye Acura in Roslyn.

Fuck that...I'm a tech for Rallye. Dude you got a "free" car wash...not a detail. Bird shit doesn't always come off w/ just a wash. I'm not sticking up for our two car wash guys but be reasonable. We'll vacuum your car too...only on request though. If we had to vacuum 60-70 cars per day...that would take a pretty fucking long time. Not to mention...the orig question was did I pay too much...I think you did and I work for the fuking place...however that doesn't mean the quality of work that you recieved wasn't top notch. Your complaints of your shitty wash job doesn't mean your car wasn't serviced properly. You should calm down some. Plus you didn't pay $150 for an oil change/rotation. You also got all your hinges lubed, new wiper inserts, all fluids topped and checked, Chassis lubed, tire pressures adjusted...not too mention you didn't get no pepboys oil filter nor oil. Next time you come in...ask for a vaccum...that simple. And next time don't do a service...get everything done in pieces. What I mean is don't say I want a 7500 mile service...say u want an oil change and say u want a tire rotation and say you want your wiper inserts replaced...you will save some of your precious money.

don't be so sore about it bro! I just got my 2003 accord serviced today for 250bucks! 15K service. I did skip my 7,500mile service, so at least they didn't get me there. I was really pissed off at the amount, but I didn't complain. I know that If I keep skipping out on servicing they would bullshit me if I come in when parts fail. Lets all be a little understanding about the cost of service. Face it cars aren't cheap, so if you can't stomach the cost of fueling, and servicing, then don't buy one!

I agree, I'm sure all of the service I received was top notch. I'm just not feeling as though I received $150 worth of service, that's all. Just because the service is great does not give the place the right to rip people off! And don't tell me that you are going to "wash" my car and then just hose it down!

I understand that 100%...however when two guys have to wash 60-70 cars per day and another 20 service loaners...they will NOT be perfect. Next time just say I want it vacuumed, washed perfectly and dressed the tires. We'll do it...just have to ask. The main reason we do washes on every car is because if the tech got some finger prints on the handles and shit...good luck next time even if you don't bring it back to us.

If you can't handle the work load, just put up a sign "We're over worked, so go someplace else." I'd also think a person who represents a company would watch their language, or is it representitive of your company?

What work load??Your talking about car washes bro...not work. And if you read my posts above you would realize that I said I thinked he payed too much and even gave him tips on how to save money. However don't criticize the worksmanship that I or my fellow techs perform cause a "FREE" car wash wasn't a detail.
