How long do you plan to keep this car?

Just wondering. Some of you change cars faster than girlfriends.

I usually keep my cars 6-8 years.

I had originally planned to keep it about 4 or 5 years. But now I won't keep it after the warranty expires, which means about 2.5-3 years for me.

I'm gonna drive this car till it breaks down for good. I'm gonna get another car in 4 years. Hopefully the car then will be much nicer and this guy cna be the daily grind.

This car is a temp for me. I got rid of my Legend and My S2K. So definately, 3 or less years. I am either getting a next gen BMW 5 Series or a Next Gen Mercedes SLK. Depends on how they look when they come out and if I feel old yet.

undecided yet, but tentatively for another 15 months and trading in for either a new m3 or sc430, or keeping and buying an s2000 or ducati for weekends instead.

hopefully i will have it longer then i expect.. heh

i get bored... but... at the same time... ive come back to Acura time and time again.

these cars are an excellent value... and have pretty much everything I could ask for.

not much i dont like about my car... except its just not VERY exciting.

I will probably keep it until something better comes along or until I can justify spending 60k+ on a auto.

I would say I will probably own it another 2 years. I actually hope I own it that long... its a great car.

I am planning on 2 years but I have never owned the same car for over 1 year yet.

The only thing that might keep me in this car is all the money I have spent on mods.

Til dinosaurs regain control of Earth.

Seriously, as long as possible. Only 58 more payments, and she's mine! And by that time, my daughter will be ready to drive. The sucker that I am, I'll prob buy her a car, so mine needs to stay reliable, and payment free.

Since I'm only driving about 7K/year, this will probably be my last standard internal combustion engined car. All the manufacturers are working on fuel cell technology. This will be most unexciting but good for the atmosphere, and we can tell the middle east countries to go suck sand. Either that or a flintstone mobile.

Since i've got the extended warranty for 7 years or 100k, i'll keep it at least 5 years. With all the mods now and upcoming, the car should be as good or better than a newer stock model.

Probably keep it another couple years..........the Sundance Gold has a lot to do with that because I enjoy exclusivity--this color definitely has it. I've had so many new cars--over 30-- that I just don't want the hassle of buying again for a while. This car has been great for day to day driving--my wife wants it and I'll probably give it to her when she's tired of driving the '99 Si Civic.

At least seven. I'm working on getting a higher paying job, but if the economy tanks then I better be happy with what I have. Its like having two cars... One economobile (I've gotten 30mpg a few times) and haul-ass'er.

At least 5 years if all goes well..... Maybe longer if I get something else better also. I'll keep the Cl-S as a project car and do a SC upgrade

I'd say at least 5 years. I kept my last car (the 1st one I bought myself) for 8 years. But it only had 65k miles. I drive a lot more now so who knows. Like moomaster_99, I'm trying to pay it off ASAP so I can buy a house. Once I have a mortgage, buying a new car might be harder.

Well, I'm torn. I'll definitely have it another two years to at least come out not getting reamed. By then, the new Z, Maxima, Infiniti G35, Chrysler Crossfire, Chevy SSR hardtop retractable pickup, the new Caddy CTS will be out. Plus, the new altima is already out. But the car I'm aiming for (right now) is the MB CLK 430 (with a stick but I'm not holding my breath).

Have 2 years left on the lease, nice car...like above, not extremely exciting....but having a PDG CL definitely helps in the looks department.

Right now, nothing really gets me going.....besides the car below that I sat in the other day (dealer car) and felt like driving my CL off a cliff afterwards. But, I am content for the moment.

Until 90K so I can sell it with 10K of warranty left on it. Because of all of the money spent on mods, I would definately buy the next generation CL if the parts were interchangable.

I'll probably do the same thing with this as I did my Taurus, i.e. drive tihs sucker into the ground. (Or until repair payments tell me to get a new car). My taurus got really getting whiny around 92K, I'm hoping the CL puts it to shame.

oh, for those of you who posted 'paying off my car as fast as possible to buy a house', don't forget you need a healthy amount of cash in your accounts to buy a house to begin with for downpayment and what not.

with 10,000 down and a 36 month lease your looking at $1615.00 per month

That sounds right, I got a price on a CL500 Sport (the one that I would probably get)...was like $3k out of pocket total, 36months, 12k/year- $1600/month......can do it if its my only car, but I would be paranoid leaving it anywhere at that level of payment (don't leave the Dodge for more than 10-15minutes).

Keeping car forever. Just not going to drive it much.

I think it's pretty stupid, financially speaking, to keep the car for only a few years. Your fixed cost of tax and initial depreciation is a bit much.

I'm 24 and I have a 15,000 loan that I haven't started paying off yet so I plan on driving this thing until it starts giving me trouble. I figure it'll be about 75,000 or 5 years. Hopefully, by then I'll be able to afford a nicer car (I think CLS is plenty nice already, don't get me wrong). Maybe move up to the next generation TL/RL if whatever is around 5 years from now is better than the Infiniti Q45 (I love that car). At the ripe old age of 29/30, I figure I should start driving a 4 door sedan and keep the CLS for weekend driving.

I'm too value conscious (cheap) to drive European. And I don't like Lexus since the drug dealing rap videos make them look pimpy. So Infiniti and Acura better fight for my money.

I'll keep her till she dies--well more likly 6-8 years.

I just have to ask this: Does anyone else wonder how college students can afford to drive $30K cars? I've seen numerous posts here from people in school and I mean that's great and all but when I went to school I was happy to have the old family 'beater' to drive around and lucky to have money for a social life. Its great that you have jobs that afford you these luxuries so early on in life. I hope mom and dad didn't buy it for you. I believe that just spoils the whole "I got here by myself" sense of accomplishment and meaning these purchases have to those of us who afford these luxuries through hard work. (PS: I'm mid 30's).

I plan on keeping it until it dies completely.

I am buying a house now, so no new car for me for a long time. The CL-S will be paid for in 2.5 years, and then I will hopefully be doubling up my mortgage payments to get the house paid off. After that I will get a new car, but it looks like my next car (in probably 4-6 years) will be a 4 door sedan of some sort. Probably used, since I will be paying for a house and all

speaking of car lenth..

So, finally my parents and I sat down for a talk about what car I should get to replace my stolen Honda cry that was stolen out of Tucson.. We decided at the talk that I should lease an Acura cl-typeS and then buy it at the end if I want to.. they felt that I would want a new car by the time the lease is up, they also felt that the stock market was going up enough that it was wiser to put my money into the market instead of a car..

has anyone one here looked really carefully at the difference between leasing and buying this car..

how much money do you loose in the end with a lease?

I bought this car for the long haul.

Major mechanical defects (clears throat) aside, I plan to use this car as my daily driver for at least 5 years, after which my wife will probably take it over.

NEVER LEASE.

I suggest buying and then selling. It's a bit more work but it's always cheaper. Also try to buy used w/ under 5000 miles and then sell it after a few years. It's sooooooo much cheaper than leasing.
