How to keep the Cl-S in control.
Lets just say the car starts skidding or hydroplaning out of control. Since we have ABS in our cars, do we hold down the brakes and turn the steering wheel in the opposite direction of the skid. Thanks for the help.
better you have VSA!... not only ABS... if you are braking fast and start skidding keep the brake foot planted and steer to avoid collison... the ABC will allow you to keep steering happend to me on sunday....
If you are skidding sideways... counter steer and avoid hard braking if possible... but I hit the brakes hard once while side skidding and I was able to stop in time.. freaking experience!
Good luck... invest in good tires

When you started skidding sideways, how fast did you take the turn, and was VSA off. Basically, i was in a 93 Mercedes 300-Sl and I took a turn floorign it from 5-30 and it skid and didnt stop. I couldnt stop the skid. So i was wondering on stock tires, how hard I can push my Cl-S without it skidding. Thanks
I had a spcial case, I was mounting 3 18" wheels and 1 17" stock wheel... I skid taking a 20 MPH rate overpass 270 degree turn at close to 50 MPH... so I skid... Nittos hooks well but not the michellin the cause of loss of control... never mix tires for whatever reason!

ok, lets just say a 90 degree right turn going into the middle lane, on a sunny day.... can i hit it at 30 no problem?
the most important thing to remember is that if you start hydroplaning you DONT TOUCH THE BRAKES. You just steer your way out of it as best possible. Braking will usually just make it worst.
Also, leave VSA on all the time unless you're street-racing someone.

1) Stock tire will squeal when pushed hard on thec corners a sign that you are close to losing grip.
2) sometimes the stock tires or even nittos will hop or jump over uneven road surfaces... a sign to lift off
3) do NOT brake while turning, brake early before entring the corner.
4) with Nittos I can do +10-20 MPH in a corner when the road are dry.. I do not push it hard when wet... never!
5) do not attempt to accelerate in corner... when leavin the corner you can accelerate...
Read some on-line guide for road racing... I saw a good one somewhere on the net...

Your tires will squeal, and you might even skid a little, but nothing you shouldn't be able to handle. My answer is yes.
