How good is this CompTech package deal?

Stopped by the dealer today where I just bought my 2003 CL-S 6sp a few weeks ago and guess what was sitting in their show room. A 2003 CL-S 6sp with a CompTech installed package with a sticker that says "290 HP CompTech Performance Package" :P:

*Headers
*Exhaust
*Springs
*Sway Bars
*Lowered front and back about 1.25 in.
*Installed by the Acura Service department without affecting original warranty coverage.

Just think, I could have ordered it when I first bought it. Now I did talk with the manager of Sales and got a hard quote for $3200 installed. So after the first service, I'll consider the upgrade.

Is this a good deal?

thanks,

$999 for headers
Springs $300
Sways $300
Mufflers $450

That is $2000

Installation is not worth the $1200 maybe 6hrs at $60 or some $350 for $2350 do it otherwise ... they are raping you on installation charges.

tell them you will give them $2500 max.....at that price, its still kind of a rip off BUT at least you are gauranteed that your warranty will not be effected at all....that is definately worth something

Did the dealer give you a breakdown of parts and labor? I just want to see exactly how much they are charging for labor. But $3200 for parts and labor is too much. Maybe you can do better by buying the parts from Deansbluesi and then having the dealer install them?

The numbers for that package are correct, except for the install prices....thats the general upgrade that most people on this board have, some have more like me You could definitely get a better install deal, but then again if its installed by the dealer, you keep you warranty

Why don't you ask deansbluesi what he would charge for that package. Then you'll get an idea.

Okay... If I were to go ahead with this upgrade how will this affect the feel of the ride and sound of exhaust.

1) Will the ride be noticable bumpier, rougher? Will the CL minor rattles and squeaks become a major problem?

2) Will exhaust become obnoxiously load? Should I consider the CT Quiet Tip Insert? Would this Quiet Tip Insert reduce the HP?

Sorry to take this a little off-topic, but who is backing the warrantee after these installs? Is it the dealer or Acura? I understand there is some law that protects people from getting the "you voided your warrantee" BS, but:

Way I look at it, if these mods (by the dealer) are backed by ACURA (not by the dealer), this is precedent-setting and anyone that does these mods have to be covered by ACURA. Otherwise it's prolly illegal.

What the heck people worry too much about the warranty... I am alerady at 43.7Kmiles... and I am left with only 6 kmiles on the bumper to bumper warranty... however, I remind you that I still have a 100,000 miles Powertrain warranty...

And I am modded... what the sways bars have to do with the Starter... or Alternator... I even have a full UR SS set... If installed right, those pro designed aftermarket parts are even better than OEM parts...otherwise, why buy them in the first place?

Just drive it!

According to the the dealer who's offering the CT install, the full factory warrantee will not be voided. All warrantee coverage will remain in affect (including my extended 100,000 mi warrantee). I'll make sure the dealer can back this up in writting before letting them do the work.

Now back to my original question...

after doing calculations, $3,200 is fairley accurate since it's parts, labor, and taxes all included...the only thing it's not including is alignment, which is another $50

in fact, if u go to PAA's site and price them out, u'll actually save about $50

I popped for the CT Quiet Tip inserts and they certainly work. Do they zap power along with decreasing noise? Who knows, but the quietness is greatly welcomed. Still growls, but no more droning at cruising speed inside the car.

from what i har the CT exhaust is too loud, i'd just keep the 600 and stay w/ the stock exhaust, the stock pipes look better to, just my opinion

The Comptech exhaust is louder and took some getting used to, but i love the rumble and wouldn't go back, plus they look way better than stock imho. The quiet tips work very well, Hammerman has them and they did the job, but don't worry about loss of h.p. since they don't add more than 2 or 3 i believe. The Comptech springs give the car an agressive look with very little ride tradeoff and no problems with speedbumps or driveways. Get some good struts when you get the springs, i recommend the Koni adjustables (Yellows )
