How to get the best launch???

I have found that the low end on our cars is slow. when i race i seems that i dont pass untill half way down the strip. This is how i launch, turn the VSA off, rev to about 2200 rpms, then when the flag goes down i give it 3/4 trottle then once i grip i go to full. Where is my problem?

Re: How to get the best launch???

It all depends on how the track is. For instance, on a good track day, I can take off at 2k rom, and get high 2.2 60fts. A track like yesterday, I can only take off at idle, and feather it.

Since all of you people are looking at this thing, you should just reply and tell me how you are launching.

i've only done the official drag races once, and i've found that SS with VSA off is best...good launch key...grippy track works also, esp on stocks.

dunno the best method tho

Here's my ticket (even though I haven't made a run with the headers/cai/pulleys installed as of yet.)

1. Good drag radials (this helps with the traction problem big time.)

2. VSA off, using SS mode

3. Load the converter to about 1500 rpm

4. Second yellow light on the tree starts to go out, nail it to the floor.

I feel better throttle response, that's for sure. Not like a supercharger mind you, but I can tell.

Plus, they look cool!

I didnt get bad wheel hop. Its probably because the stock tires suck so much that they just slide.

All I know is that on the way back from our Christmas lunch today I dropped off one of my co-workers who has a GS300 and he wanted to see me leave some more of my vaunted tire marks in the parking lot.

So, needless to say, I obliged him--completely.

Now, the parking lot in our complex is at a slight uphill grade, but nothing to write home about.

I brake torqued just a bit and then li the shit out of my tires (new Khumo 235/45/17's) and burned the crap out of them all the way through first gear (I actually engaged VTEC until 2nd gear!). The Potenzas would never let me peel out this bad(confirms my thoughts on the Khumos not being assticky as the Potenzas).

But, the Khumos did not squeel at all. And, I swear to you all, I left rubber marks for a good 30 yards!! I actually had to go back and see them since it was so impressive!

I have a nasty reputation for doing this. Yet, my employees always egg me on?

Boy does this sound familiar! I'm the one here in Ohio that's got that reputation!

No. She's like a tank!

I don't care if my tranny goes. I have a 100K warranty and I will simply insist they give me an equal loaner car for the time it is down. My friend at the dealer has already told me that if it goes there's no problem with warranty etc. because of mods since he can diagnose and suggest repair without any managers getting involved.
