How does your CL sound in the winter?

I notice my car, only when it's cold, it makes a loud clicking noise on a cold start. Once the car warms up, it goes away. Does anyone elses car do this or know what it could be? I dont think it's the solenoid because it sounds like it is coming from behind the bumper.

normal. its something with the fuel system. my accord did it, my GF's accord does it, and so does my CL randomly.

Mine sounds a little tickey, whiney with the headers also. Sounds slightly like a vacuum with the K&N as well. Hell, it just plain sounds loud now even at a stop light.

when cold, it has some ticking going on. for some reason, if i start going after a little heating of the engine, i can really hear the K&N/Icebox really sucking some air.

Mine does the same thing. I'm assuming it's because the idol is higher = drawing in more air = hearing the intake more. I love that sound and wish it didn't die down once the car gets up to temperature. My ticking stopped once I started using synthetic. Then again it doesn't usually get very cold here in AZ.

it doesn't get "cold" here either. and as for the ticking, i've always had it and always have used synthetic too. so, who knows.

Yeah, I know some people haven't heard a difference in the valve ticking even when switching over to synethic, but I did. I wonder if there's more than one sorce for the ticking noise then just the valves then?

typical high mileage J-series in cold weather

J-series engines with high mileage tend to knock when cold (like around here when it gets -15°C), the piston is too loose in the cylinder and knocks on the cylinder wall. with heat the piston expands and eliminates the gap allowing the knock

what are you sayin again? I didnt catch it the first time. Your first reply must've flew off my screen.

You make no sense what so ever. Why is this a pointless thread. My car makes this particular noise, I post to see if it's normal, and people reply and agree. Maybe you need to lay off the whacky.

Mines always been a little ticky. Still runs low 14's and gets 26mpg combined, so no worries here.
