You have to use a little muscle, but there's no trick to it. If I remember correctly, there's a tiny zip tie holding the boot to the shift knob as well.

If you have an '01, there is no shift boot. But yeah, for both '03 manual and '01 auto shifters, really put your ass into twisting it .. it's scary but it'll come off.

By the way, I was not drunk or anything... typing on an iphone at 8:30 in the am after being up until 4 am isnt the easiest of things... haha

But yeah just put everything you got into it. There is nothing holding it.

As far as if you have a manual, you can actually get the chrome ring apart from the shift knob. just pull it downward and it will come apart. then twist the knob. As for the auto's, just twist.

If you're asking what I think you're asking, the answer is no, the auto knob will not work with a manual shifter. I tried when I first bought my CL, but the shafts are different sizes.

btw, it's not a stupid question

rainen? why would you have to wait for the weather? oh!, yeah you see that button on the side there...it closes your sunroof. lol, sorry just giving you a hard time cuz the knob replacement [for auto anyway] is about the easiest thing you can do for the CL. but there was a time i had the same question, but i figured it out...

good luck with the knob!

Actually it will fit but it will never go back on a auto shifter again. I put one on mine during the 6 speed conversion till i got one for it. (if i remember right i drilled the plastic slightly larger)

Is this the factory knob? Some of the aftermarket ones have a set screw securing them to the shaft.
