How do I adjust the Trunk hinges?
How do I adjust the Trunk hinges?
Since I put the spolier on, The trunk has a bit of trouble staying open. I guess it's the weight of the spolier. The dealer said I had to get new hinges that could deal with the added weight. Is this true?? I swear I read on here somewhere that they could be adjusted.
It's not a spring. It's the Torsion bar. Normally, sans the spoiler, it's set to the lower setting. When the spoiler is put in, the torsion bar is moved to the rear, higher setting. My car unfrotunately has been reset to the lower setting after the body shop was done with it... According to the service manual, theres a special tool u should use. Not sure if it's neccessary or not. I don't have a scanner or I'd scan the page(s).
Has anyone adjusted the torsion bars instead of replacing them?
I too have this "heavy trunk" problem. I have found the tool at http://www.ahmotor.com/product/ahmcat1mt.html#2D but I would like to be sure it can be adjusted and not have to be replaced before I buy it.

Take a look at my trunk gap on the right side brake light,
its like sticking out. But the left side is fine.

Do you think this has anything to do with adjusting the torsion bars?

I don't think the torsion bars would cause a gap like that because they don't adjust the hinge position, just the hinge spring tension. Have you tried putting the torsion bars in their original position to see if the gap goes away?

But heres what i figured: My hood use to be uneven, lower than
the frame of the car, so I went and adjusted a rubber stopper and
turned it a bit and its perfect now.
So thinking the same thing about my trunk, I adjusted the rubber
stopper underneath the trunk lid, but it didnt do anything to the gap
