How did you get your Repair/Maint/DIY Book?

I'm lookin for a Chilton or Haynes (or other) repair manual for our cars. I can't find one anywhere? Everyone says our car is too new. Does anyone know where I can get one?

(and yes, I did do a search)

Comon people someone has got to have one of these. I refuse to believe there ins't one available yet. 2nd gen is a 3 year old car for sh!t sake.

I'm a new CL owner and need to change my oil and tranny fluid for the first time. I want to know all the details a Chilton's or Haynes book can give me... fluid levels, type of fluid, ect...

You will get more then enough info in the Helms book. Some you will never need. Just order one from them. It's $$ compared to a hayes, or chiltions, but it's worth it cause those books just give a run down on alot of stuff. Besides it's a factory manual, not a aftermarket written one.

I have it and its well worth 70-bucks man.
It’s like 3-inches thick and has over TWENTY TWO HUNDRED PAGES and covers every system in the car from 2001 through the 2003 6-Speed.

BUY IT !!!!

he was looking for a step by step type manual with REAL pictures (not drawings).

Maybe in the next year they might come out with it but they only seem to do the most popular cars.

Before I bought the helm book I had a chiltons that had the 3.2 legend, 3.2 TL, and acura integra all in one book. It was rediculous....

There is no doubt that the helms book is worth it but for a simple oil change, brakefluid change its a bit on the pricey side.

Contragtulations IMO, well worth the money. Even the 2001 auto CL/CLS book is a phone book.

BTW, here is a little quote from the ALLDATA.DIY site -- it doesn't help to not have Acura supporting DIY/casual users:

http://www.alldata.com/products/diy/index.html

"... Unfortunately, information for Honda, Acura and BMW is not available to consumers through ALLDATA DIY by request of the manufacturers"

The manual (well, at least my 2001 manual) has plenty of diagnostic flow charts for figuring out "what's wrong."

Based on my older Chilton/Haynes manuals, if I could only buy *one* book, it would be Acura factory (Helms).

BTW, my Nissan factory manual isn't nearly as good...

Who really knows if they could be convinced to come out with a book with a very limited audience?

Acura books on the Haynes website are pretty scarce! And, you nailed the issue: popularity == potential buyers (ROI).

And, oil change and brake fluid change shouldn't need a repair manual. The owner's manual will pretty much cover the capacity. IMO, a general auto mechanics book, buddy/helper and/ or *this forum* will cover the above-mentioned service items for free.

Those other books take a car & then spend weeks taking it apart take pics, then put it back together. I haven't looked at their catalog but would they really do that on an expensive car?

The Helm manual was the best mod I bought for the car. The money is well spent.

The Helm manual answers about 90% of questions that people post on these boards -- what size? how much torque? correct fluid vis? which one?...

I've had one for every car I've owned so far... 6 total and 5 being hondas. 1 99 accord and 1 97 GS Teg. Those are mildly expensive cars.

I don't think you would find them taking apart the auto tranny on a CL/CLS/TL/TLS.
