The other day I rolled up on a G35 coupe at a stop light. It had aftermarket rims on it and looked lowered. I had my wife in the car with me and figured he had other mods but wanted to have some fun anyway (my wife likes it when I race other cars ) The light turned green kinda quick so I gunned it and he didn't bite. Lucky for me there was another red light only 1/4 mile ahead where we both stopped. Both of our windows were down and he looks over and says "Well I didn't know we were racing." I looked over and said, "I know you'll probably kill me but I want to see what those cars can do." He didn't even reply, we both just sat silently waiting for the light. Now he's all by himself in there and I have no idea what he has under the hood, but I'm pumped at this point. The light turns green... we both punch it. After a little tire screetch we're both off quick nose and nose.

Now here's where I get confused, I start pulling in first gear. He's in a manual so the only thing I can think of is he screwed up some how, but his shift sounded pretty clean into second and he still didn't catch up, I just kept pulling. I was probably going about 80 in 3rd when I slowed down and let him pass. My wife was in shock, as was I.

My only mod is an intake, and I'm guessing he had none. But I still figured I would have had my ass handed to me while my wife watched. Anyway whatever it was, I had fun

 

maybe they were some UBER-heavy rims, lol

 

maybe he wasn't racing. i've had my ass waxed several times by g35's. i did keep up with an auto with 20's though.

 

i'm too lazy too look it up but is a g35 coupe and sedan-both auto-putting out the same numbers??
my friend has the sedan and i can slightly pull on him(i'm 6 speed he's auto) but there are plenty of time i get a good jump or vise versa and its a landslide.

just curious-maybe thats the case
