How did i NOT get busted?
I'm driving north on US23/I-75, south of Flint i believe. I was cruising at about 80-85. The traffic wasn't too heavy, but there were a few other cars around me.
Then some fuck in a big Ford truck comes up on my ass and starts swerving all around trying to find his way past me. I couldn't get over, and right then this dude in front of me starts slowing down to like 60. The person to the right of me took an exit ramp, so i went into the right lane to get away from these assholes. I get to about 90-95 coming around a rather wide turn, and BAM - my detector goes apeshit. Instant-on K band has just raped me in the ass
. I slammed on the brakes as soon as i heard the detector go off and see the cop sitting at the top of this hill/turn in a turnaround in the median. I'm doing about 75 then.
The cop just looks at me.
I let the traffic behind me catch up and i went into hiding behind a large van. Never saw lights though. A few exits later i got off and waited for a few minutes, just in case he was looking for me still. I then went on my merry way, didn't see another cop the whole trip.
I'm thinking a few things might have kept me from getting owned.
The cop might not have known exactly which car he got (the guy i was passing wasn't too far behind me, i think). 9/10 times the car in the left lane is going faster, so that might have influenced his decision.
It might have taken the detector a little while to get a reading - in which time i slowed down enough to save myself. I'm not familiar enough with the workings of radar guns to know if that could be the case. Anyone care to share the knowledge?
He could have been in a good mood, and thought that since i didn't look like a teenage punk (gg beard) he shouldn't bust me.

I've never seen a cop on 96 or 696, although i usually only drive it a few times a month. But i see them all the time on 75, which i drive even less; especially on the weekends - prolly lookin for speeders going north for the weekend. I just usually pick em up and slow down before getting owned

I did like 110 all the way home on 696 last Sunday at 2:00 AM. I saw a nice yellow Porsche get nailed by the cops, but that was in the canals. I KNOW not to speed there.

Maybe 'cause your radar jammer is working well ![Big Grin](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Sometimes the cops don't mind the excessive speed. I notice that if it's during rush hour, the police tend not to care as long as your keeping w/ the flow of traffic.
On the other hand, if you're speeding in a rice machine with a loud exaust, weaving in an out of traffic (without using turn directionals), then the police tend to notice you more.
Maybe he is an Acura owner, and figured he'd cut you some slack because of your exceptional judgement in buying such a fine ride (either that or he wanted to finish his donuts).
