How to check mnaul trans fluid level?

How do you check the fluid level in the Manual transmission CL-S? I know there is the bottom plug that drains it and the top plug to fill, but is there a way to check if it was partially drained or soiemthing?

Make sure the car is level on a lift or jackstands. Undo the fill plug and put your finger in there. The fluid should be level or about level with the threads of the fill plug. Thats how I always checked the fluid on a manual trans. Hope this helps.

you could just jack the car up level and undo the small overfill plug just above the trans. drain plug. Then open the fill plug and pour some fluid in until it drips out of the overfill hole. That's how HELMs says to replace the fluid.

1. Park vehicle on level ground.
2. Remove the oil check bolt and washer, check the condition of the fluid. If the transmission fluid is dirty, remove the drain plug and washer.
3. Reinstall the drain plug with a new washer. (29lbf-ft.)
4. Remove the oil filler plug and washer.
5. Refill the trans. fluid from the oil filler plug hole of transmission, and until the transmission fluid overflows from the oil check bolt hole.
6. After it stops overflowing, install the oil check bolt with a new washer. (9lbf-ft.)
7. Reinstall the oil filler plug with new washer.

2.3 US qt at fluid change
2.6 US qt at overhaul

How do you get the car level when it needs to be jacked up to have access to the bolt?

You can drop the car back down onto the ground with the level check bolt removed and fill the tranny. When it starts to overflow, stop filling, jack the car back up and put the check bolt back in.

But it'll flow out while you're jacking it up since the fluid will be moving towards the rear.
