How can you increase a wheel's offset?

I read a post awhile back where you can 'machine' a wheel to increase its offset. Where in Cali can this be done? Is it $100/wheel or some expensive amount like that? Thanks.. BTW I am afraid that +45 with 18*8's will rub.. I wanna increase the offset to +48 or +49..

Yup, that's the only way to increase offset, although whether it can be done or not to any particular wheel depends on that wheel's design, and whether machining will weaken the wheel "disk."

Sorry, can't recommend a place; never had it done.

Should I be concerned that a +45 offset with 18*8 wheels will rub?

No! ...Unless you plan on lowering it!

I had 18" X 8.5"'s with a +45 offset - NO RUBBING w/ stock springs!

What tires work best with this combo.. it is not lowered.. should I go with:
225/40
235/40
225/45
I am leaning towards 225/45 so I will not worry about rubbing as much but there are very few choices with 225/45/18 tires.. I am concerned that with my offset 235's will rub.. should I try to find a place to increase offset to +48 ,+49?

Oh you gotta lower the car. It will look like an SUV if you put 18s on it without a drop.

See if someone can post a pic of a CL with 18s on stock springs. It looks terrible. Just like the TL does without a drop.

I know 19x8 with a 45 offset will rub on a lowered car. You might, so I'd be a bit weary.

The more I see about the experiences of various people and the various offsets AND the comments about "this rubs" and "this doesn't rub", I have more and more doubts about all of this.

I am starting to wonder if the actual brand of tire is also involved. They all have different tread and section widths. So, without specifying the exact combination, it seems like blind-man's bluff.
