I'm buying my Type-S but have a friend who lives in Houston city limits and leasing his vehicle.....This month he received over 5 different taxes from the city totaling almost $600.00 .....He called American Honda and they said its up to the county and states that he may get more tax slips...anyone else here experiencing this on their lease vehicles in the Houston area??

yep, state law includes personal property owned by businesses in the property tax. since the lease company owns the leased car, there will be a property tax charge. generally, the lease agreement requires you to reimburse them for the taxes during your lease term. you basically pay all the same property taxes you would on your house and other real estate, but without the homestead exemption (natch).

in my area it breaks down as:

spring branch isd: 1.79%
city of houston: .65500%
harris county: .64802%

some places have additional charges for "muds" and fire/police services, etc.

so far I've received 4 (maybe 5) tax statements totalling about $600. the final total will depend upon what harris county appraisal district values the car at.

 

that is almost as much as an unleased cl, im paying 600 a month in houston

 

fortunately, I'm not paying $600 a month for my leased cl-s...

 

i pay close to 600 a year in country taxes in GA.. so i used this years federal tax 'break' to help pay my local taxes..
