Nope... They don't make anything for the J-series (v6) engines... IIRC they specialize in the 4 banger honda/acura applications...

If you search for hondata here on the 2nd Gen CL forums, you'll find 83 threads that mention the phrase "hondata"...

I believe the reason why they don't have anything for the J series is because they don't have iVTEC. IOW, no adjustable cams.

well b16 and b18 don't have ivtec? i know some guys with motor swaps in civics and they have the hondata system... i was reading and it stated it should work w/ most vtec motors... guess our cars don't fall in the "most" vtec category! ha

It's not a factor of vtec/non-vtec, vtec vs ivtec at all. It is mainly the ECU model (OBD2) with no OBD1 compariable's for easy of chipping, popularity of the J32 motor and overall demand.

95% of all D, B, H, K, & F series honda vtec motor owners mod, build and race their cars. It's part of the scene. Combine that with the fact that up until 1996, just about all honda/acura ECU's were OBD1.

Allot of available OBD1 ecu's + honda 4cly racing scene = BIG, abundant market.

Additionally, just as GM said Hondata's market strong hold is only 4cyl vtec motors. And most notably the last couple of years, the milestone K series ivtec motors and their 10-25hp stock reflash.

The CL has never been a big player in the import modding/racing scene. Its more of a heavy, luxury couple with a nice output VTEC V6.

If you really wanted to get Hondata to replace your stock upchippable ECU, rework a OBD1 ecu with custom a/f maps, spend a decent amount of money/time tuning, and be located close in CA, it could be a possability.

For enough green, Hondata might do a custom ecu project for one J32A2 owner. This would also enable them to put out a dyno and test the J series market.

However, after it is all said and done for that indivitual, the money spent vs. gains will be pretty low.

Well, nevermind, I know it's been discussed before. I guess Hondata just didn't see a benefit to invest the R&D for the the J series motors.

I know that Hondata actually has a unsername here. I think he stated the reason in the TSX Hondata thread.
