Ok, I'm a little pissed off here right now.

I was looking through my May 2001 issue of Motor Trend, and started reading the 6 Sport Luxury Sedans Test. Ok, Honda claims that the auto TypeS doesn't have short gear ratio's due to gas mileage. As we all know here, the TypeS has granny gear ratio's. Where on the other hand the 5sp BMW 330 has very sporty gear ratio's. Now, how is it possible that the 330 has a gas mileage of 21 miles per gallon in the city, and 30 miles per gallon on the highway, when the TypeS only has 18/24? I'm totally confused right now. Can someone please explain this to me? Cause shit, the BMW has WAY WAY WAY more aggressive gearing, yet it still gets WAY WAY better gas mileage. This is pissing me off!

Fuck, Honda has even pissed me off with the ratio's in my S2000. 5th and 6th gear are overdrive gears!! 6th I wouldn't mind at all, but 5th?!?!?

 

well the bmw does have less hp.

im not a mechianica engineer so that's my best guess.

 

Type S should have 19/29. Motor Trend mistyped it.
