Homelink question

My Homelink hardly works now... I need to be within 1-foot of my garage for the damn thing to work. I checked the service manual and it only calls for a functionality test... nothing more than that.

Is there a second battery on this thing? The circuit diagram calls for a 'battery' and I assume this is not the car battery.

Yes it has a seperate battery however I don't know where it is located. The Helms doesn't give any insight on it's location? I know it has to have a second power source other than the main battery because I've never had to re-program it even after disconnecting the main battery.

Hey can one of you 6MT guys take a picture of the little bracket that the starter cable, battery gnd cable and other transmission cables attach to on the tranny. I am putting everything on but can't seem to figure out how/where to bolt that harness bracket (its called a 'stay') onto the tranny.

Thanks!

I’m pretty sure there’s no second battery.
It probably just has a capacitor or flash-RAM to hold the settings without power.

I had that entire unit out when I was putting the LED’s in there and there’s no battery that I saw.

Sorry that’s no help to the original poster though.
It might be your opener. Try reprogramming it and see if that helps.

Hmmm I've never had the entire unit out so I just assumed there was a second source of power.

This is what the back of the HomeLink module looks like.
Nothing to replace back there except for the map light bulbs.
Photo from when I was adding the LED’s to the front.

Interesting.

Ram I couldn't get out to the car until it was dark tonight. I'll try to get the transmission picture for you tomorrow. Although with the blower installed it might be hard to get a clear shot.

Cleared....

I erased the codes and reprogrammed on another button... same thing! My car is pretty much stock now except for headers so there can't be something else screwing this up.
