Holy Shit...Unbelievable!!!
So I was browsing thru the new Motor Trend magazine today and guess what I saw. Whoever said that a car is not as fast or faster than a bike have got to get this issue. Here is a quick rundown:
Lingenfelter Corvette TT
802 hp
866 torque
0-60 mph in 1.97 secs
1/4 in 9.24 @ 150 mph
For comparison purposes, the former king was the Hennessey Viper which did the 1/4 in 9.99 secs.
BTW, does anybody have ~$165,000 they can give me?!!

Pretty amazing. Even crazier that they raced against an F-18. It was kind of funny when the guy said he blacked out. They enlarges the Corvette engine to 7 Litres and prolly did a lot of other upgrading so it can handle the power and torque. And those tests were with slicks. I am sure the Vette could fry those "measly" 345's that come on that beast.

mantis is very right.... for a supra to have that crazy power they need a big turbo. And what does a big turbo need? High RPM to create high volume of exhaust to spool the moster. Most commonly nitrous is used for this purpose so you can launch off of boost but I doubt a sub 2 second 0-60 time is possible.
JOKE : what similarities are there between a 500hp supra and a 1000hp supra ....... give up? they both run 12's!

There is nothin like a fully tricked out supra. Whether or not it could get below 2 seconds in the 0-60 means nothing to me. call me crazy but id take a pimped out supra with 500 hp over that vette. Just my opinion though (im not a big fan of domestics)

supra curb weight = 3505
supra hp = 320hp stock
p/w = 10.95lbs/hp
Vette ZO6 weight = 3015
Vette ZO6 hp = 405 stock
p/w = 7.4lbs/hp
Did I meantion STOCK the Z06 could pull over a g on the skidpad?

oh and a supra with 500hp (which is very easy to get) 3505 only has a 7.01lbs/hp ratio which barley beats the vette although I would take the vette because it can launch better and the car is more purpose built.

Okay...correct me if I'm wrong...1 mile is 1609.344 meters. So 1 mph is 0.44704 meters/hr so 60 mph is 26.8224 meters/sec.
v=a*t, so a in a 0-60 = 13.615 m/s^2 or 1.381 g's assuming constant a (not true but a close approximation)
in that 1/4 mile...a 1/4 mile = 402.336 m. So...
x=1/2*a*t^2, and a = 9.425 m/s^2 or about .956 g's. (same assumption as above).
And that's just incredible.

Mantis has a point, but there's ways around it. A fully built-up I-6 engine, with replacement connecting rods, cylinder heads, high performance cams, etc. will make huge amounts of horsepower without the need for forced induction. Granted, it won't make eight-hundred-plus horsepower, but you can compliment such a build up with smaller turbochargers, which need less air induction.
A lot of this would be considered unfounded, because it would be costly, and most Supra owners don't bother given the cost. But with a $165,000 budget, I'm sure it's do-able.
I could bet you with a lot work, one could get a Supra to run under 2-second 0-60mph times.

Man i thought 0-60 in 4 or 4.5 even was NUTS but under 2.
personally if i had the money and choice between a late model Supra(like a 95-96) or a new Z06 I'd still go Supra. They're both easy to pour HP into them but I like the styling of the Supra better.

For me, Z06 all the way. I am not a big fan of the Supra personally. Next to the Z06, would be a GNX. I guess my heart is with Domestics.. If only they would get their quality higher
I personally doubt the Supra would be able to pull 0-60 in less than 2 seconds but you never know....
