Holy horrible first runs, Batman.

I ran the track for the first time in my life today, I just got back about half an hour ago. I had prepped myself horribly, starting off with running with VSA on for the first run. I have horrible cheap tires, Mastercraft Avenger HPs. I was also bouncing from town to town before I ran, which made my engine extremely hot. Doesn't help that the temp hovered around 80 the whole day.

1st run ----> 2nd run

2nd gear hit the rev limiter a few times before it finally shifted into 3rd on the first run. Didn't help that I was spacing out when staging and I idled through the water box, giving me watered tires and a 2.7 60'.

2nd run was a little better. All in all, it kinda felt the car was sluggish. I felt that 15.6 was NOT a normal run, something might've been wrong, even though the engine ran hot both times.

I feel pretty embarrassed really. I was the slowest one at the track today. And that reaction time...

Sheesh, thanks for the encouragement. I'm bringing ice bags with me this time, and a tire pressure reader.

when i go i just open the hood and let her cool off while waiting in the staging area. tire pressure i put around 18-22psi. but on an auto you can prolly put it higher and not have to worry about traction as much?

Your traps are too low. Check your actuator, it may not be engaging. Your times reflect those a CL-P should run, not a CL-S.

My bone stock CL-S, mind you I have the 6spd and in 63 degree weather, trapped 97mph. But 20 degrees and a 6spd gearbox isn't enough to make up 7mph. I had 2.4' 60' too.

When I ran the first 16.0, the actuator was actually the first thing that came to my mind. It was only yesterday that I was able to test it, and yes, it was working. So I can only conclude that the engine was too hot to run its best. =/

BTW, I have a broken CAI with a dirty filter and Neuspeed exhaust. I'm planning on losing the foglight and the filter for my next race next week.

Why are the circled car numbers different? Also the engine being hot don't make that much difference.... It's your driving that needs alottttttttttt of improvement.

It's not the car, it's your track skills. Like me they suck in a 1/4 mile in a FWD car. My old 6 speed, first time at the track only did 15.1.
