Angry Holes in the bumper...

So I pulled off my front license plate holder... and I have two holes drilled into the fucking bumper. The bumper is a replacement I got a month after I got the car. . (Sister's fault). In any case... what should I do about the wholes? Is there anything I can do @ all about 'em?

I also have a couple of crazy paint chips on the bumper and deep scratches from the front license plate holder.

Am I better off taking it to a body shop and getting it taken care of?

How much would filling in the holes and painting the bumper cost ya think?

Yeah... I know the holes shoudln't be there. All the stuff was taken care of when I first got the car, soooo didn't really know or care about anything like this.

Sucks that I JUST found out the holes are there.

Anyone got any advice on the scratches and paint chip?

If there's any cheap body shops around the Los Angeles area that does decent spraying, someone lemme know... =/.

I am thinking about painting my back bumper too. Whoever had it before me scratched it really bad and then tried to use touch up paint, made it look worse. I went and got an estimate yesterday to take the bumper off, repair the shell and then repaint. They quoted me $328.

I have the same problem. Went back to the dealer and compared it w/ other CLs in the lot, and they refused to take responsability of the holes in the bumper.

I went around and got some quotes starting w/ $250 including filling in the holes.

Thumbs down

I went to 3 places and got estimates. The first two were really close $328 and $334. The last place i took it to quoted me $740 and they wouldn't fix the old bumper they wanted to replace it then paint. She wanted to know if i was gonna go thru insurance, when i said no she looked alittle upset. I would hate to see how much it would have been.

they have to re-clearcoat the whole bumper or else it will look jacked up.

My estimate was ~290 to paint the underneath of the bumper and re-clear

Think they'll tack on extra to fill in two holes?

The one scratch is really long and its verticle from the top of the bumper to the bottom. The rest is on the top of the bumper where no one was careful when unloading the trunk and put some killer scratches on it. The rest of the car is in perfect shape, so it really stands out. Also, being black doesn't help any.

btw, they even charged me for taking off the bumper when they paint it. They will charge for anything and everything....hopefully the place you find won't be so pricey.

I'd be willing to pay $250 for fill and paint. Where do you live? I need some good shop suggestions for LA area.

Suggestion: find a used bumper cover at a salvage yard that matches the paint on your CL. Also, there are refinished bumper covers available. Contact your Acura Dealer Parts Dept. They know who has refinished covers. Many times the insurance companies will only pay for these.

Thx for the suggestion white.
for being a ... but.... .... what's a bumper cover? Is it like one of those clear car bras?

And I wasn't really thinking of getting insurance to pay for this cause I don't have that much damage...

I think the bumper cover is the whole bumper. Or i guess what we see on the outside of the car, it's really for looks. That whole bumper comes off in one (plastic) piece. Under that cover is the real bumper system where is connects to the frame. If you go to this link below and put your information in and choose bumper you will see the covers and prices...#1 is the front bumper and #2 is the rear. http://acuraautomotiveparts.org/acur...prddisplay.jsp

Ohhhh okay, I see what you're saying.

So what I thought was the bumper, is what you were referring to as the bumper cover. Got it.

So you're sayin', best bet is to find a replacement bumper that has the same paint finish?

yup...you got it

I bet that would take some time trying to find one in good condition and the same color...but i am sure it can be done. I would just have the old bumper repaired and painted. Thats what i am gonna do.

Hahaaha, sorry man. Took me a WHILE to get that one. .

In any case, yeah I'll shop around...

new bumper in ABP finish vs. repair and paint.

I don't even know where to start for a new bumper. Any suggestions on how to find salvage yards?

When i had my explorer i wanted a set of nice leather seats. I live in a small town and we only have 2 salvage places and i have been through both and i never find anything good. I went online to junkyarddog.com. You can put in a request and they sent it out to a whole bunch of salvage places. To find places where you live i would just try a search on yahoo or something. Also, try what white said and talk to your local acura dealer. Found some seats the next day on ebay so i never really got to try it out.
