HKS Super Drager exhaust... any way to get it to hang higher?

It seems to hang kinda low, and I think it was blxmjx that said he was going to try to raise it a bit. Was he able to?

Kinda curious if you can bend the hangars a little so it hangs higher, or does the muffler not have any extra clearance above it to hang higher?

I dunno what u can do really. The hanger closest to the bumper is paralell with the canister so it does no good really to squeeze the rubber mounts together as that would only pull the exhausts closet to the center of the car... someties I wish I got the comptechs.

Oh really? How come?

How does the HKS sound compared to the Comptech?

I'd get Comptech but I'm afraid it will either be too quiet or just not deep enough.

Everyone here says the Comptechs are sooo loud, yet everyone at the meet today who's heard them was saying, nahhh they're really quiet and not worth $600 for not much difference in sound.

Too bad no one with a 2nd gen Type S had any aftermarket exhausts today at the meet.

The Dragers are quieter than the Comptech's but Comptech now has what they call Quiet tip inserts to muffle the noise. I love the look of the Dragers but wish they didn't hang so damned low.

I had this same problem with my old car.(exhaust hanging to low). I brought it to the muffler shop and they just heated up the hangers and bent them up. took about 2 mins and it was done.

Under normal circumstances, I'm sure rewelding would work... but on the Accord and CL, the Hanger points attached to the car are off to the side for the fornt mount and directly on top for the rear mount. While u can shporten the length of the mount in the rear, the front mount is horizontal, so reheating would proolly do nothing but bring it closer to the center of the car. I wish i had a pic to explain.

When you say front mount do you mean the one closest to the rear bumper or the one towards the front of the car? If it is the one near the bumper and it is horizental then yes reheating would not work but if it is the one toward the front of the car you might be able to heat or shorted the back on but then you might get the look like they are not stright because the back will be hanging lower. What about takeing the horizental hanger off and putting a vertical one on and welding it to the frame? Could work.

Are comptechs just silly sounding or are they deep and rumbly? I would think by the shape and the tip that they can't be very deep or rumbly.

Maybe I will just ghetto rig a fartpipe on mine. :-p

the comptechs are so deep and rumbly that at some rpm's the car sounds like a v8. that's with headers and cai though. you would prolly be better off going ghetto style, keep it real yo.

LOL

I'm still undecided. Maybe I'll go with the Comptechs in case I lower my car further so I don't have to fear scraping my exhaust along the ground. :P

yeah, i have race springs and i havn't scraped my exhaust, i don't think it even comes close . i think the incline would have to be really steep to cause a problem.

And why is that?

Are those the same model exhaust? Might just be the pic angle but they look a little different.

Yes they are the same model, HKS makes only one model of the Super Dragers. When I had them originally installed they did hang a bit lower but asked the mechanic to somehow make them hang higher and even. I think he bent the hangers?

I like the way they look, but I need to hear the Comptech in person sometime to see if it's loud/too loud/not loud enough. Everyone says the HKS is quieter. No one around here has that exhaust though.

JRock, the HKS sound nice & subtle, plus you save a few extra bux over the Comptech's.

Yeah, $100+ less is nice, but I don't really want it subtle - If it's not much different than stock, I'll save the $500. I kinda want it deep and rumbly.

Maybe I should just go buy two cans of Folger's.

The exhaust note is deeper in the lower RPM range, but definetly more noticable over stock.

Have your heard the Comptech exhaust? If so, how does that compare to your HKS?

Sorry, I haven't actually heard the Comptech's, but by what I read, they are slighly louder than the HKS.

I wonder if they're louder at WOT but lack the low-end rumble of the HKS. I've heard one set of Comptech on a TL-P and to be honest i didn't really HEAR much, but he wasn't showing it off, just driving two cars in front of me at a meet.

JZ just got the Comptechs on his car recently. I'll have to hear his sometime.

At WOT, the HKS is not that loud, which is good as I didn't want the car to sound too ricey.
