Hit 140 today...woah
It was around 8:50 a.m., no Traffic on straight 3 lane stretch of highway. I would never have attempted this if there was traffic in front of me. I must say, VTEC'ing in 4th (5 A/T) is kinda scary. The car was so stable though, it was amazing. . Just thought I would share.

you say it was stable . . . you were on a pretty good road weren't you? From my experience she starts to feel light (every little bump send a little more travel into the suspention than normal) and cornering at anywhere near 130 or above becomes intereting

Bro, I drove a 350z sport and my cl with mods both to 120, and an S430 to 110 in the same day coming from a photoshoot upstate. I'll tell you, the 350 z made my car feel like a boat, the stability made the car feel like it was going 80mph. My car was all over the place from any little steering. the benz was just plain boring and just between the two other car in stability. Also, the cl just runs out of legs after 3rd gear...

Stable?? Maybe on a perfect road, but I've had some interesting moments when I've hit an expansion joint or pothole at 100-110. I'm stock, and I drive on snowplow damaged roads, but it's times like these that I miss rwd. When you drive over 8/10 or 9/10 torquesteer becomes more noticable (I've learned to deal with it, but the first few times it was almost scary).
I guess torque steer is the price I pay for having a car thats better in the snow.

Yeah well I made it from L.A. to the SF Bay Area yesterday in a little over 4.5 hours . Drive was about 365 miles so an average speed of about 80mph. Fun drive for the most part... didn't do any top speed runs because I'd like to keep my car thanks. Love the CL as a road trip car... it loves to pass slower BMW's mostly

I went to 120 with stock springs and the 140 run with the CT's installed. Car felt more stable with the CT's

I've "cornered" at 130 or so in a stock CL-S, which felt a little too scarey, so I slowed down. Doing 140 in a straight line wasn't bad, but at that speed it isn't worth the price in insurance and not having a car.

I was riding the limiter for 5 mins straight in the desert of Cali one day. I covered just under 12 miles in 5 mins. It was insane!!!
Car felt cushy, but quiet and smooth. I def would not want to turn the wheel the slightest bit.

I've been trying to rationalize the cost of 5 or 6K on my CLS, and I'm almost there. I'll probably keep the car for 5 years or so, so the price is only 1k a year. This will buy me 5 years of continued enjoyment
If I hold off on the Koni's and rim/tires (SSR's) and just do springs/sways/headers/icebox/ the cost would be even less per year. If I do the mods a little at a time, it wouldn't be that big of a hit either.
The CLS is a great car out of the box, and I can only imagine what it would be like with some CT improvements.
Decisions... decisions...

That is so true, I have hit 130 on I-16 near Savannah, GA, kinda stretching the limits with a guy in a 330Ci
Straight line is fine, but I don't know of anything short of a ferrari or 911 that will feel 'safe' over 100 in a real curve.
maybe a wide gentle curve, but that's it
It had better be a long flat straightaway so you can hopefully see a cop.
Desert or flat plains, no trees to hit preferably
