High mount lamp

For those of you who have the trunk spoiler, have you found a way to remove the high mount lamp assembly and cover up the hole in the liner? I don't like having something on the rear shelf that doesn't work. Any info will be appreciated.

Removing the assembly is easy, I think. Aren't there just bolts holding it down? I would think that you just open the trunk unscrew the fasteners and lift up the assembly. But covering the hole? Only thing that I can think of is putting a piece of colored carpet where the break light used to be. But it may look kind of cheesy. Anyone else have any ideas?

Not only that, but how are you supposed to clean behind that non functional piece of ? LEXOL users in hot climates know that it sweats onto the glass. I've cleaned the glass everywhere but behind that high mounted stop light. It looks stupid like that.

You need to remove the rear seat and rear parcel shelf if you want to completely remove the light housing.
It doesn’t just drop down into the trunk.

I'd just keep it. It sounds like pain in the ass to mess with. It doesn't really look bad anyway.
