HIDExtra is gone - where to get ballasts now?

I got about 8 years out of my HIDExtra ballasts/bulbs, now I think I need a redo. I almost pulled the trigger with some random online outfit, forget the name, but their website was down for weeks. Seemed sketchy so I backed off. Then I found Xentec on Amazon, and again almost bought from them, but reviews seemed overwhelmingly poor, AND I never received a response from their customer service when I messaged with some questions. Now I'm a little skittish about who to trust for this product. So who's the new go-to for aftermarket ballasts/bulbs?

Anyway, I see they have LED lights available for my car. Are people going that route now, or sticking with the HID/ballast kits?

just looked!
they are marketed as fog lights. so, no. it would be inadvisable to use the LEDs as headlights. As I understand it, LED's are not quite there in terms of performance, especially with reflectors found in the CL's headlights. OEM's spend BILLIONS to make decent LED headlights. the aftermarket scene isnt quite there yet with advanced technology.

I would stick to the HIDs. I believe the HID kit will take care of your needs and last longer than 5 years. (My set of Morimoto branded HID kit (From Theretrofitsource) certainly has lasted for 5 years and more)

They have both fog and headlights, but I agree with what you said about toying with new technology. And your endorsement of their kit is enough for me to go with them. Shame about hidextra, their customer service was really great when I did that install years ago.
Anyway, thanks again.

You'll find that TRS will exceed HIDExtra in terms of quality and customer service.
They are very quick to help with any of your needs! If unsure of anything, contact them via their website chat or by phone/email. Very helpful blokes.
