Hey Shawn S - Shift Knob question
Shawn S-
I'm hoping you can help me. I'm trying to install a new Momo shift knob and performance boot in my 6 spd. I've removed the trim plate with no problems, but now I need to install the Momo performance boot. So I have two questions: First, it looks like the OEM shift boot was trimmed before it was stapled in. Did you trim your Momo boot? Second, did you just use a staple gun to secure the new boot? I ask because it looks like the factory had to try several times to staple the OEM boot securely. Any other tips would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your help!

I didn’t cut the MOMO boot, but I did put four 1/2 inch long slices in it just above the elastic.
Through these cuts I inserted the four tabs of that white inner ring.
Mine is working OK, but it has come loose once or twice.
I’m going to have to come up with something to attach that white piece to the rectangular trim piece from below.
I just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
I’m thinking of using a couple of short screws or even hot glue or something.
It would all be hidden under the boot so you won’t see it once put back together.

thanks for the info. I went ahead and cut it down a bit because the boot was so much bigger than stock. I was able to line it up like the original and staple it in with a gun. Rest of the install was a snap. I'll cross my fingers that the boot stays tight.
