Hey all...just got an 01 CL-S

Hey all,

I just got a 2001 Silver CL-S w/ 56k miles on it and it drives beautiful. I love this car. I been reading and reading this forum and it's a great site for information. I was wondering, you think I should take my car to the dealer to do a full checkup and do these service plans that they have? The past owner of this vehicle had some paper work on service that he had done at an acura dealer....but only to about 25k miles....so I dont know what he did after that (i bought the car from a dealer so there is no way to ask him...i dont even know if it has the original tranny).

So, my main question is, should I get one of these services from my dealer and tell him to look at everything? I have no problems with the car whatsover..but I want to take care of it so she does not give me problems later on.

Also, when your car is on Idle...where is the needle at? Mine is the third line!

Thanks for all your comments!

No! take it to a good independent shop that works on Acuras, they do it much cheaper and can be much better personal service. Dealer is overpriced. shop it around. If you didn't already, have the brakes, rotors, and tranny looked at. Tranny is under warranty til 100k miles so take it to the dealer for any tranny issues. If there's no tranny maintenance history I'd have new tranny fluid put in.
that's about it, drop the car and upgrade tires if it's all stock, will handle much better than stock. good luck.

Congrats, I bought my 02 CLS 4 weeks ago and love it, put 2k miles on it already. There is a plethora of information on this site and many helpful people. After my car warms up my idle just under 1000 rpms.

Congrats and hello from the clan! There is a big scheduled maintainance at 60K miles. Also, check and see if your tranny was replaced- It's good to know. Also you should read up on the trouble signs of a failing tranny.

Welcome. Kick ass car. Post some pics.

My idle is a bit under 1000.

Did you get an extended warrenty at the dealer? If not, you may want to look into it. The dealer should be able to tell you if the tranny was replaced and all that crap.

After that's done, start thinking....mods

Thanks all...mine is not a Navi. I have already started the modding...lol. Well, a cheap mod...I replaced all my interior lighting with the Blue LED's from superbrightleds...it makes the car so much cool. Also, getting 35% tint this weekend nad Im also waiting for my spolier from spoilerdepot that I bought from ebay for $200 shipped and painted. My next mod I want to do is to install the Comptech Ice Box...

My rotors ware warped because when I brake the sterring wheel shakes slighly....what can I do about that?

Thats a known problem on the CLS. Other then buying some upgraded rotors yourself *cough*Rotora*cough* if you car is still under warranty you can head over to the dealer.

If its out of warranty they might good-will this service as well. Some people have met resistance at the dealer for this, even on their first try while under warranty, so remind them of the TSB:

I had the same problem with the brakes. I called Acura and they said that it's a wear part and would have to check to see if they will change them under a warrenty. I got pissed about having to wait a for an appointment and took it to my mechanic and he changed them for not that much. If I remember correctly it was about $250 for new pads all around and one new rotor to replace the one that was cracked. Oh yeh, that will also cause your vibration. With 56K miles, you're better off taking it to a good mechanic. Acura will rape you to get them changed.
Option 2 is to shell out the cash for Rotoras. I'm probably doing that the next time.
And....I just put in my Icebox last weekend. I love it.
